[16:09:33] <rand> hmmm...chatzilla disconnects if you clear "active logins" from firefox.
[16:09:52] <chromas> rand: can you hold a connection to other servers?
[16:10:21] <rand> It varies -- from an hour or two to under four minutes
[16:10:44] <rand> I'm starting to suspect my ISP
[16:10:52] <chromas> Maybe your isp turns off long connections to keep you from torrenting or something
[16:11:18] <rand> DCHP is supposed to reset in "1200' but I don't know dif that's seconds, minutes, or hours
[16:11:48] <rand> But it usually resets in just a few minutes.
[16:12:48] <rand> And my connection speed have been varying from 220 KB (not bad for dsl) to under 50KB to dead in the water.
[16:13:22] <rand> Cable is looking better and better, in spite of the cost.
[16:16:16] <rand> My daughter streams movies for hours at a time and it doesn't seem to have any effect.
[16:17:59] <chromas> Maybe the streaming service is isp-approved
[16:18:31] <rand> Could be.
[16:19:34] <rand> *DHCP
[16:20:25] <chromas> Never had dsl. The little online 'test' to check availability always says "no"
[16:21:27] <rand> We used this isp at the place I used to work for; never had a problem.
[16:21:38] <rand> I never had a problem until lately.
[16:22:16] <chromas> Bad modem?
[16:23:41] <rand> I don't think so. We have phone service through tem too, and lately the line has been very noisy, intermittently.
[16:24:17] <rand> It might all be ATTs fault.
[16:26:29] <chromas> Oh, no wonder! What kind of noise? Is it like heavy breathing? Could be Dave over at the nsa. He's a perv but they can't fire him 'cause his uncle is the manager in finance
[16:29:17] <rand> More crackling and crunching, like something downtown has a loose wire. We used to only get it during rain, but these days it's anytime.
