[03:05:27] <halibut> Weird weather stuff: I recently learned about these Wikipedia pages:
[03:05:34] <halibut> https://en.wikipedia.org

[03:05:46] <halibut> https://en.wikipedia.org
[03:06:34] <halibut> I think the strong El Nino is believed to be causing a stronger-than-usual Pacific storm season, and suppressing the Atlantic storm season (no hurricanes in the Atlantic this season so far).
[03:07:03] <halibut> The east Pacific, for two separate periods (including now) had three hurricanes at the same time.
[03:07:35] <halibut> The west Pacific has also had a bunch of storms active at most times.
[03:08:06] <halibut> Kind of cool seeing pictures of a string of three cyclones (far enough from land I do not need to feel bad about any damage they are causing).
[03:08:27] <halibut> (I am pretty sure most ocean inhabitants are fairly safe under the water.)
[04:59:25] <kolie2> yea true
[04:59:41] <kolie2> and the year after a huge el nino is hot AF - and this year is already hot AF im scared of next years temps.
[07:23:59] <chromas> Triple hurricane! Das how we do it on the wes' sieede
[07:26:14] <halibut> The triple hurricanes were on the east side of the Pacific. On the west side, they would apparently be typhoons.
[10:58:24] <AlwaysNever> those God forshaken, Nature ransaked lands where cataclysms happen
[15:38:20] <kolie2> The east side of the pacific is most defintely the west side :)
[15:38:54] <kolie2> u go telling the boys in LA you are from the east side u going to get some problems.

[22:28:50] <halibut> Basically, this problem: https://xkcd.com
[22:29:11] <halibut> (except comparing a US-centric view to one centered on the international date line, instead of the prime meridian)
