[09:55:36] <Ingar> AlwaysNever: "colours" of astro images is a multi-layered subject. For starters, most color sensors are more sensitvie to green than to red an blue. The "source picture" usually looks like a green mess. Color calibration is mandatory. This particular image was made using a narrowband filter which only lets hydrogen alpha (red) en double oxidized oxygen (blue/green ish) through. Instead of a
[09:55:39] <Ingar> real color calibration I equalized the RGB channels because it looks nicer (imho)
[09:57:30] <chromas> Does anyone make sensors that don't have extra green cells?
[09:57:31] <Ingar> halibut: so just Halpha and OIII in the image
[09:57:55] <Ingar> chromas: you can use RGB filters with a monochrome sensor
[09:59:58] <Ingar> but in essence, color is the artistic part of astro images.
[10:00:19] <Ingar> you want something that looks nice, but still retains some scientific value
[10:00:28] <chromas> Maybe if it's exposure stacked, you can set up a color wheel :D Set it up with a microcontroller that maps each exposure to the color that the wheel happens to be on at the moment
[10:01:04] <Ingar> chromas: almsot, people use a filter wheel and then just run R, G and B sessions
[10:01:23] <Ingar> (or Ha OIII SII sessions..)
[10:01:36] <chromas> lame. that means each color is far away from the others in time
[10:02:15] <chromas> anyhow your pictures are pretty neat
[10:02:18] <Ingar> well it's not like an astronomical object changes a lot in appearance over the course of a few days
[10:02:26] <Ingar> chromas: thanks ;-)
[10:03:16] <Ingar> the sad detail of that picture is tha I had to sacrifice a lot of faint detail to hide the seams of the mosaic
[10:03:49] <Ingar> I think I got some moonlight in the mix, maube I can fix it next year
[13:01:15] <Ingar> just noticed Runaway has Alternative für Deutschland in his sign, I wonder if he actualyl supports those Nazis
[13:01:40] <DiarrhoeaChaChaCha> Tracks though, I guess
[13:01:55] <Ingar> a lot of people here have not forgotten the german occupation
[13:08:47] <DiarrhoeaChaChaCha> AFD in sign --> tell me you're a troll without telling me you're a troll?
[13:11:34] <Ingar> AFD in sig -> tell me you're a nazi without telling me you're a nazi
