[07:50:38] * Ingar has a wallpaper http://ingar.intranifty.net
[07:50:42] <Ingar> (beware big fat jpeg)
[07:51:13] <Ingar> maybe I should make a 4K resize :-D
[07:51:22] * chromas saves
[07:52:11] <chromas> I was going to mention the JPEG artifacts, but now they're gone, so apparently the browser reacting slowly to zoom and save was because it was still loading :D
[07:52:14] <chromas> Ingar++
[07:52:14] <bender> ingar: 21
[07:52:30] <Ingar> chromas: yeah it takes a while to render ;-)
[07:52:33] <Ingar> thanks
[07:53:10] <chromas> Sexy photo. Is that a silhouette of what engineers call the Strongest Shape just right of center?
[07:56:17] <Ingar> chromas: I'm not sure what shape you're referring to ;-) officially
[07:56:54] <Ingar> * officially the middle part is the North America Nebula and the shape on the right is the Pelican Nebula
[07:59:03] <Ingar> ( see also https://apod.nasa.gov )
[07:59:08] <systemd> ^ 0303APOD: 2013 September 3 - North America and the Pelican
[08:01:14] <chromas> "...Mine's bigger"
[08:02:07] <chromas> The shaft got a bit darker in 13 years.
[08:02:32] <chromas> or is that just a result of filters and sensors and stuff?
[08:15:23] <Ingar> yeah, post processing and color calibration and all that
[08:15:34] <Ingar> there's a lot of image editing involved
[08:15:48] <Ingar> colors are usually to the liking of the author
[08:17:02] <Ingar> in my case, the image is with a hydrogen-alpha/double oxidized oxygen filter. the hydrogen is quite red so I made it more orange
[08:17:05] <Ingar> because I like orange
[08:17:49] <Ingar> the APOD image is probabely more realistic
[08:19:31] <chromas> It doesn't have as many pixels though so it's less cool
