[08:16:00] <janrinok> Good morning all!
[08:16:53] <chromas> g'mornin'
[08:16:58] <janrinok> hi chromas
[08:17:57] <janrinok> Starting the day with housework - not my favourite task but it has to be done eventually!
[08:18:11] <chromas> chores--
[08:18:11] <bender> chores: -1
[08:47:41] -!- fab23 has quit [Quit: macOS is user friendly. It is just picky about who his friends are.]
[08:56:03] <halibut> At least starting with chores means the day is likely to improve.
[09:14:43] <janrinok> I hope it does!!!

[11:25:18] <Ingar> housework/cleanup is ok
[11:25:25] <Ingar> ironing on the other hand....
[11:25:34] <Ingar> I'd pay someone to do it
[11:47:50] <chromas> https://cooklang.org
[11:47:50] <systemd> ^ 03Cooklang – Recipe Markup Language
[11:56:31] <Ingar> does it have an option to translate funny measurement units into metric ?
[12:00:57] <chromas> Sounds redundant
[12:06:49] <Ingar> I have no idea how much salt one library of congress is
[12:09:46] <Ingar> it's like a teaspoon of sugar, ever tried to swallow a teaspoon ?
[13:54:51] -!- Runaway [Runaway!~OldGuy@the.abyss.stares.back] has joined #Soylent
[13:58:14] -!- Runaway1956 has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds]
[15:05:23] <chromas> I don't usually swallow; that's the librarian's job, mostly
[18:58:11] <AlwaysNever> fab23: I need your McIntosh expertise: I have a MacBook Pro 2015 with macOS Monterey, I don't have Bootcamp, just plain vanilla macOS - can I use CloneZilla to make a full backup to an image in an external USB disk? Will that backup restore as-is to an upgraded M2 SSD disk inside the MacBook?
[18:59:10] <AlwaysNever> (yes, I know an adapter is needed to plug a M2 SSD into the MacBook Pro 2015)
[19:23:16] <fab23> AlwaysNever: I would try to boot into Recovery mode with Command-r and then there use Disk Utility to write an image of the whole disk into an .dmg (on e.g. an USB Disk)
[19:25:05] <fab23> AlwaysNever: or better check out https://discussions.apple.com
[19:25:11] <systemd> ^ 03How To Clone Your Mac Using ASR - Apple Community
[19:26:38] <fab23> AlwaysNever: I kind of remember that with "newer" macOS (with this read-only system disk) it did not really work through Recovery mode and Disk Utility
[19:38:52] <AlwaysNever> thanks, fab23, I see the Mac has its ways, I'll try to follow them, thanks for the pointers
[19:54:00] <fab23> AlwaysNever: you're welcome, else you could to a Time Machine backup onto an external USB / Thunderbold disk, install the new disk, install OS from Recovery mode (works also through Internet) and then during install when asked use the backup to recover.
[19:54:21] <fab23> s/could to a Time/could do a Time/
[19:55:55] <fab23> After install has alsmost finished, it asks if you want to Migrate from an other Mac or Backup.
[19:59:04] <fab23> AlwaysNever: another possible thing would be with the commerical Carbon Copy Cloner (https://bombich.com/) to clone the disk.

[20:00:10] <fab23> AlwaysNever: you may need older Version 6 of CCC on Ventura.
