[07:55:40] <janrinok> It's quiet, too quiet... /me waiting for the bursts of machine gun fire!
[07:56:21] <janrinok> at least we have a new bot to play with.
[08:00:49] <Ingar> If you have a problem and nobody else an help you, maybe you can hire...
[08:00:54] <Ingar> *machine gun fire*
[08:06:40] <chromas> Aren't you in France though?
[08:06:59] <chromas> Instead of machine gun fire, it would be trucks crashing into things
[08:11:37] <Ingar> chromas: Belgium
[08:11:51] <Ingar> on the dutch side of the frontier
[08:11:57] <Ingar> *dutch-speaking
[08:12:10] <Ingar> afaik jan is in France
[08:12:28] <Ingar> (darn jan, did I jsut dox you?)
[08:12:42] <chromas> nah, he's autodoxxed
[08:13:04] <Ingar> jeanrinoque
[08:54:18] <janrinok> or the sound of falling guillotines
[08:55:22] <janrinok> nah, the fact that I am in France is known be everyone - or at least I haven't tried to hide it!
[08:55:30] <janrinok> by*
[08:56:27] <janrinok> I'm decorating my home at the moment. I am not on the second room. The painting is easy, but moving all the large heavy furniture is a very time consuming task!
[08:57:20] <janrinok> *I am now on the second room. My fingers aren't behaving. I wonder if that is connected to the medication that I am on...?
[09:38:50] <chromas> https://scontent-sea5-1.xx.fbcdn.net
[09:43:29] <janrinok> and that is what frightens people away from linux.
[10:11:42] <Ingar> yeah, it's like we've never seen a blue screen on some store TV
[10:12:27] <Ingar> at least here you know the issue is that it can't mount root
[10:13:22] <Ingar> also, the number of "Stopped" messages in the log are suspect
[10:13:38] <Ingar> I think some admin is going to be fired the next day
[10:30:36] <chromas> One of our banks had an EFI boot screen on their outdoor sign. It stayed that way for a month I think.
[10:35:09] <janrinok> There is a lot of useful information there, if you know how to interpret it. But most people, and those who they would ask to help them, wouldn't have a clue. It is not that Linux is worse than Windows - it patently is not the case - but all that information might as well be written in a foreign language for the majority of people.
[10:35:46] <janrinok> One would hope that a linux-capable person wouldn't be too far away from the downed server.
[11:27:21] <Ingar> the people who need to switch from windows to linux are not the people who install oeprating systems
[11:31:56] <Ingar> it is also the kind of people that need a one day training course if their desktop icons have moved
[11:32:33] <chromas> "There's no way to go back. You can't arrange 'em by penis"
[11:32:47] <Ingar> screen is too small for my penis
[11:32:58] <Ingar> !next
[11:33:13] <chromas> "My Salesforce was on the right testicle"
[11:34:21] <Ingar> I'm very sorry sir, we moved ti to the anus
[11:34:39] <Ingar> with the adobe applciations
[11:42:09] <chromas> adobe agent coming in to hog all your free rams and cycles
[13:40:49] <Ingar> support call of the day "Hi, someone did something, but it didn't work. Can you help?"
[13:40:57] <Ingar> my answer: "No, kind regards"

[14:29:45] <Ingar> I hope wikipedia jsut blocks the UK
[14:30:28] <Ingar> but it is interesting to see how all the pieces of the inernet cencorship are falling into place FAST
[14:31:14] <Ingar> time to implement that neighbourhood mesh network
[14:35:45] <c0lo> Mesh network not gonna help w/ censorship applied at application protocol level (http/s in this case).
[14:35:45] <c0lo> That is, unless you bring the Wikipedia site inside the mesh
[14:40:16] <Ingar> c0lo: no, but it does help moving content around with the govt/techbros prying eyes on it

[15:30:05] <janrinok> The headline associated with c0lo's last submission is a bit misleading, there is still a long way for this to go and the obligation, according to the courts, is upon the UK govt to protect freedom of speech unless harm can be demonstrated.
