[07:55:54] <janrinok> I always find it amusing when people arrive on this channel claiming to be one person yet at the same time, from the same connection, are making posts on the site itself and quickly revealing their identity.
[07:56:53] <janrinok> It is such an important 'micro-site' that they feel it necessary to post several comments almost daily.... Idiots.
[08:07:36] <c0lo> Why are you using plural?
[08:08:11] <janrinok> oh no - do you mean it has always been the same person? Gosh, well he had us fooled!
[08:08:41] <janrinok> good morning, c0lo!
[08:11:00] <Ingar> day 20 of the Great Deluge
[08:11:39] <janrinok> you have more rain to come on Sunday night and Monday. Plus very strong winds for this time of year.
[08:11:56] <janrinok> Storm Floris - according to the BBC
[08:12:31] <janrinok> Not sure about here - we might be just on the edge so it could go either way
[08:13:00] <Ingar> interestingly enough, I already noticed increased wind force the past years
[08:13:12] <Ingar> it's one of those things you notice while cycling
[08:13:22] <janrinok> Yes, I can imagine!
[08:14:02] <Ingar> but, weather should start getting nicer SOON (tm)
[08:14:07] <janrinok> Supposedly it is in your favour for 50% of the time, but if my memory serves me well I seemed to be going the wrong way far more often...#
[08:46:05] <c0lo> > good morning, c0lo!
[08:46:06] <c0lo> Good morning janrinok. I still have 5h15m until Sunday morning, tho'.
[08:46:57] <c0lo> > it's one of those things you notice while cycling
[08:46:58] <c0lo> I gave up cycling when I noticed I was always pedaling uphill.
[08:47:37] <c0lo> Even when I was using an exercise bike.
[08:55:32] <Ingar> for me, cycling is not a hobby or an exercise plan, it's a mode of transport. giving up is not an option
[08:58:39] <janrinok> c0lo, yes but in that case I am late for wishing you well for Saturday morning...
[08:59:42] <janrinok> Ingar - have you managed to find a new home for your old couch?
[09:34:38] <Ingar> janrinok: not yet, the local youth club didn't need it, asked the local youth movement
[09:35:51] <Ingar> if nobody wants it I'll post a get free stuff message in a local social media group
[09:36:30] <chromas> Put it out on the street with a $50 sign and someone will steal it for you
[09:36:39] <janrinok> lol
[09:36:53] <janrinok> lateral thinking for the win!
[09:37:27] <Ingar> chromas: since the theft and return of my telescope thieves kinda avoid my house
[09:37:43] <Ingar> and I have three ninja cats now
[09:38:19] <Ingar> (not to mention it has been pouring all day)
[09:39:33] <chromas> They didn't know how to fence the scopes so they brought them back?
[09:40:12] <Ingar> they actually got caught trying to fence it
[09:40:32] <Ingar> it's a bad idea trying to sell custom build devices on boards that are read by a small community
[09:40:45] <Ingar> s/boards/websites/
[09:40:46] <chromas> telescope community watching out for each other
[09:40:58] <Ingar> chromas: aye
[09:41:28] <Ingar> it's like a musician's instrument
[09:41:52] <Ingar> you just don't steal a guy's guitar
[09:42:21] <Ingar> in that regard, I'm kinda lucky I play tyhe piano
[09:42:43] <janrinok> I'm surprised that somebody thought to advertise the scope so close to where it was stolen from.
[09:43:26] <chromas> but you'll by top suspicion in certain comical murder cases
[09:43:33] <Ingar> kids that didn't know what they were doing
[09:43:43] <Ingar> they should have disassembled it and sell the parts
[09:43:47] <janrinok> they know now :) !
[09:43:55] <Ingar> yeah, but so do I
[09:44:05] <Ingar> let's say my setup has slightly more name labels now
[09:44:54] <chromas> Say guys, how much do you think this IngarScope 9050 would go for?
[09:45:18] <janrinok> a lot more than I would advertise a couch for
[09:45:30] <chromas> Does the couch have custom parts?
[09:45:46] <Ingar> not .... yet
[09:45:57] <Ingar> it has USB ports so that opens up possibilities
[09:46:05] <janrinok> he's is being optimistic again about the new couch...
[09:47:07] <chromas> add some puter bits and some motors so you can track stars right from the living room
[09:47:52] <chromas> or would such a feature....be out of scope?
[09:47:58] <Ingar> I can use the TV as monitor and jsut RDP to the scope system
[09:48:08] <Ingar> a tracking chair.. now that will take some effort
[09:48:11] <janrinok> I'd have to 'look into it'
[09:48:34] <chromas> You at least need some haptic feedback for when the scope is locked onto something
[09:49:35] <chromas> put a couple of these in the couch https://www.amazon.com
[09:49:44] <Ingar> chromas: there's a driver to control the telescope with a gamepad, that could be a starting point
[09:50:50] <chromas> I found using the gyros in the steamdeck makes aiming with thumbsticks a lot easier.
[09:51:40] <chromas> How will the kids sell the new ragnI TiltoScope?
[10:28:53] <c0lo> > but in that case I am late for wishing you well for Saturday morning...
[10:28:54] <c0lo> Coming from an age hardened pedant, would you accept the suggestion of replacing the ! at the end of the late wish with a question-mark, janrinok?
[10:29:02] <c0lo>
[10:45:05] <c0lo> why are there Flat-Earthers but nobody questions the sphericity of the Death Star?

[11:12:44] <janrinok> :) I will consider it...
[11:32:49] <Ingar> c0lo: Kathleen Kenedy flattened the Death Star becvause it is a balls reference.
[12:14:05] <c0lo> Look, Ingar, I'm trying to start a CT on Flat-DeathStar, 'cause FlatErthers are boring. Are you telling me everybody knows is flat?
[12:15:48] <Ingar> c0lo: I made many pictures of the cosmos, and all of them are flat
[12:15:56] <Ingar> round is all fake
[12:21:09] <chromas> What about circles though? They're both round and flat
[12:55:00] <janrinok> Wouldn't it be a Death Plate if it was flat?
[12:55:31] <janrinok> Doesn't sound quite as intimidating to me.
[12:56:00] <janrinok> or maybe a DeathDisk
[13:41:12] <c0lo> Ingar good thing you didn't take a picture of yourself, riding a bike require a 3D presence

[15:38:28] <fab23> A lot of things in the US will soon only be affordable for the wealthy. Imports from Switzerland will even have a 39% tariff. And as Swiss products are expensive anyway and they did not had a less expensive source in the past, they may still have to import from Switzerland. :)
[16:38:38] <Ingar> there might be large quantities of discount chocolate
[17:00:52] <janrinok> US chocolate is very different from European chocolate, which are all slightly different from each other. I find American chocolate far too sweet. I don't got for the 90%+ pure dark chocolate either that some European brands produce.
[17:01:51] <janrinok> This might be a good opportunity for Swiss chocolate. I doubt that those who have bought it traditionally will not be switching to US made chocolate any time soon.
[17:02:52] <janrinok> bugger - double negative, if they like Swiss chocolate they will be sticking with it and not choosing US chocolate, but you had worked that out!
