[00:21:23] <mrpg> I bought a used laptop from lenovo. i5 8 cores.
[00:21:30] <mrpg> It comes with windows 11.
[00:21:44] <mrpg> I decided to play solitaire.
[00:21:45] <chromas> I'm sorry for your loss
[00:21:53] <chromas> Did you have to pay for it?
[00:22:06] <mrpg> Solitaire has ADS!!!!
[00:22:28] <mrpg> When I finished there wereads at the right side.
[00:23:00] <mrpg> I think I as looking at the games it says it has. It don't, you hav to download them.
[00:23:42] <mrpg> Refurbished, 430$ aprox.
[00:26:29] <mrpg> Nice graphics. I have 4 months free of xbox BUT as always, I have to give them my credit card. Ain't gonna happen.
[00:26:48] <chromas> pysolfc has Windows releases
[00:26:53] <chromas> https://sourceforge.net
[00:26:53] <systemd> ^ 03Just a moment...
[00:27:13] <chromas> even source forge is using cloudflare I guess
[00:27:21] <mrpg> I took 320GB from the win partition to install ubuntu budgie.

[00:36:42] <mrpg> Why alf's and Kate's hair have the same color?
[00:38:32] <mrpg> without direct insight from the show's creators, we can only speculate. However, the idea of creating visual harmony between a central puppet character and the human cast seems like a plausible explanation for the similar warm brown tones.
[00:39:18] <chromas> half-siblings. one of the parents got freaky
[00:39:51] <mrpg> +1 Insightful
[00:39:59] <mrpg> chromas++
[00:39:59] <bender> chromas: 442
[00:40:08] <mrpg> alf++
[00:40:08] <bender> alf: 1
[00:40:15] <chromas> mrpg++ # thanks for the subs
[00:40:15] <bender> mrpg: 21
[00:41:22] <mrpg> Welcome
[00:42:21] <chromas> pysol (fce) has 1340 different solitaire games
[00:42:45] <mrpg> I think I have only played klondike.
[00:43:10] <chromas> 66 klondike variants
[00:43:13] <chromas> that's just too many
[00:44:20] <mrpg> Dumb snap, there's a problem here, it needs gtk portal or whatever to access the screen so some programs stop before loading, just give me my DEBs FFS.
[00:44:57] <chromas> ah yeah, canonical really really wants you to use snaps
[00:45:33] <chromas> everyone else is pushing flatpaks but at least they don't usually shove 'em down your throat
[00:46:16] <mrpg> big time. I installed FF from mozilla's repo. I couldn't open bittorrent links there.
[00:47:23] <chromas> My favorite bit is installing fire/waterfox from flatpak makes it complain that containerizing the browser interferes with its own containerization
[00:48:42] <chromas> for cards I'm using KPatience from KDE. Not as many game variants, but the cards are animated and no ads :D
[00:51:12] <mrpg> I like sudoku

[01:04:32] <mrpg> bye
[01:04:46] -!- mrpg has quit [Quit: mrpg]
[07:44:00] <Ingar> git real distro without snaps or flatpaks
[07:44:06] <Ingar> *get
[07:58:46] <janrinok> mrpg, I have unloaded snaps from most of my systems. I now use direct downloads of FF, Brave and TOR Browser, which do not seem to be as restricted as the snaps versions. FF is however getting worse with each update and that is without any snaps involvement.
[08:03:03] <chromas> FF was getting worse long before snaps even existed
[08:06:18] <janrinok> well it has continued on the same path ...
[08:47:03] <Ingar> seriously dump ubuntu and derivates
[09:27:52] <chromas> it's archin' time!
[09:29:30] <Ingar> or plain debian
[09:29:49] <chromas> fart
[09:30:02] <Ingar> either way a good opportunity to spend a weekend in agonizing frustration
[09:30:04] <chromas> plus I thought you said noubuntu derivatives
[09:30:48] * Ingar installs chromas in a container
[09:30:51] <janrinok> I have several boxes the are Debian - but there are some things which I just find easier/convenient in Ubuntu.
[09:31:36] <Ingar> janrinok: I do have some debians running
[09:31:47] <Ingar> my home setup is arch though
[09:32:27] <chromas> the problem with debian is the official pronunciation is wrong. should be "deebian"
[09:33:52] <Ingar> debian sounds like the Dutch word for retard
[09:34:30] <chromas> well their releases are pretty known for being a little slow
[09:34:42] <Ingar> rofl
[09:35:58] <chromas> I tried to go back to suse but haven't been able to get either rocm or cuda to work
[09:36:19] <janrinok> for which card?
[09:36:28] <chromas> any
[09:36:47] <chromas> cuda for laptop with nvidia, rocm for desktop with amd
[09:36:51] <chromas> in arch it just works
[09:37:18] <janrinok> OK, that's not good. Most OS support my cards now with no special incantations or sacrificing of chickens necessary
[09:37:21] <chromas> but I do like their snapshot-style rolling relase
[09:37:34] * chromas beats his cheap keyboard
[09:38:27] <chromas> the graphics work fine, but no gpu rendering or slop generation
