[15:20:13] <kolie2> o/
[15:24:27] <janrinok> hi kolie
[15:24:37] <janrinok> you are on early!
[15:24:50] <kolie2> Am I?
[15:25:05] <janrinok> have your clocks changed?
[15:25:10] <kolie2> Yea they have about a week ago.
[15:25:13] <kolie2> It's 8:30 here.
[15:25:18] <janrinok> ah, that'll be it then
[15:25:31] <janrinok> we don't change until the end of the month
[15:25:33] <kolie2> We don't like it any more than anyone else has to deal with it.
[15:26:22] <kolie2> Great day on the stonk market.
[15:26:30] <kolie2> Got up early to get in on the action.
[15:26:48] <janrinok> what's special about today?
[15:27:01] <kolie2> Trump head lines create volatility.
[15:27:07] <kolie2> Volatility means price action.
[15:27:13] <kolie2> Price action means trading opportunity.
[15:27:29] <janrinok> ah, OK
[15:27:34] <kolie2> And with all the china talk, a lot of the tech stocks are at all time lows.
[15:27:47] <kolie2> So I see a lot of short term opportunity, combined with long term growth.
[15:28:43] <kolie2> Some of these companies if they fail it signifies the dollar has lost all value. So it's kind of silly - you invest and the options are - all dollars are worthless - or - the market recovers.
[15:29:13] <kolie2> If the dollars or worthless, didn't matter what shit company you were holding haha.
[15:29:13] <janrinok> I'll stick to my pension :)
[15:29:19] <kolie2> I don't blame you.
[15:33:25] <chromas> is that Regurgitator's problem? riding stonks?

[16:16:47] <drussell> \o
[16:17:00] <drussell> 'sup, Kolie-o ? :)
[16:17:01] <kolie2> hey big d
[16:18:01] <drussell> Spun a rod bearing on the car the other day... About to go try to drop the oil pan to see if it damaged the crank or if I'm lucky and can just slap in new bearings for now... LOL
[16:18:07] <drussell> It. never. ends!
[16:18:49] <drussell> Unfortunately it's one of those "remove starter, AC/ some brackets, exhaust, on and on" just to get to oil pan off.
[16:19:24] <drussell> If it was my van I could do it on the side of the road with like 12 bolts.
[16:20:24] <drussell> Anything interesting in kolie's world? :)
[16:21:32] <drussell> G'morning to Janrinok also... (Well, morning here, of course) :)
[16:22:49] <kolie2> love how they design the cars.
[16:22:59] <kolie2> It's like they dont want you to do anything on them :)
[16:24:03] <drussell> Yeah, and this isn't even new, it's an '01... The newer they get the less they seem to even consider future maintenance and repairs...
[16:24:20] <drussell> It's actually not THAT bad, I think... just a bit of a pain
[16:25:02] <drussell> only has 152,000 km on it, though... Very surprised it killed a bearing.
[16:25:47] <drussell> I did lend it to a chick for a couple years and I think she may have let her ass-hat (ex)boyfriend drive it, so he probably drove at 6000 RPM
[16:26:52] <janrinok> drussell, late afternoon here, but hi anyway :)
[16:27:03] <drussell> Indeed. :)
[17:35:46] <Ingar> google transle sucks

[18:36:27] <chromas> How about bing translate?
[18:37:23] <chromas> There was a long period of time where bing maps and image search were better than google's. google didn't catch up, of course. Bing got worse
[18:39:40] <fab23> Ingar: ever tried https://www.deepl.com ?
[18:39:41] <systemd> ^ 03DeepL Translate: The world's most accurate translator ( https://www.deepl.com )
[18:41:06] <fab23> support European companies :)
[18:44:58] <janrinok> I use DeepL. I've bought a licence and I am creating a database of the new vocabulary that I hear in each day's lesson. Provide it as a list to DeepL and it provides me with a translation of each word/phrase that I can load directly into my db.
[18:45:42] <janrinok> I can then run local test to help me learn the vocab whenever I wish.
[19:54:09] -!- AlwaysNever [AlwaysNever!~donaldo@093.02.7.595.dynamic.jazztel.es] has joined #soylent
[20:04:40] <AlwaysNever> So I'm trying to browse Soylentnews.org with Lynx, and when I go into any post/submission, I only see (among the page's boilerplate) this content "Nothing for you to see here. Please move along" - but when I use "normal" web browser that text string is not even in the HTML source... What games are at play there?...
[20:04:44] <AlwaysNever> Screenshot: https://i.ibb.co
[20:05:35] <AlwaysNever> In Slashdot, that peculiar behaviour does not happen, there I can enter into a post/submission with Lynx and read the comments normally
[20:14:36] <chromas> Is there anything missing from the url?
[20:46:55] <drussell> The same article linked above in the .png loads fine for me here with lynx on FreeBSD
[20:47:54] <drussell> No issues browsing and reading the site, articles, comments that I can find from here, all seems normal and accessible from here
[20:50:11] <kolie2> That comes up when there is "no_such_sid
[20:50:44] <kolie2> So the story ID being submitted is wrong.
[20:51:34] <kolie2> sounds like lynx isnt submitted the SID in the Url string when its typed there.
[20:53:11] <drussell> Other than the http vs https that link works fine for me when I browse soylentnews.org with lynx
[20:53:18] <drussell> Works fine
[20:53:56] <drussell> Is suspect typical AlwaysNever trolling nonsense or severe PEBKAC on their part
[20:54:58] <drussell> https://soylentnews.org works fine for me
[20:54:59] <systemd> ^ 03Unearthed Notebooks Shed Light on Victorian Genius Who Inspired Einstein - SoylentNews
[20:56:12] <drussell> trying with it manually overriden to http makes my lynx automatically redirect to https and it loads.
[20:56:26] <drussell> I call shenanigans on troll

[22:50:47] <AlwaysNever> Sorry, I was away from keyboard
[22:51:53] <AlwaysNever> I0m using a HTTP proxy which terminates and removes de HTTPS, perhaps that's causing the problem described
[22:52:51] <AlwaysNever> also, drussell, why the hating?
[22:57:42] <AlwaysNever> "typical AlwaysNever trolling nonsense", that's rich
[23:02:20] <ted-ious> AlwaysNever: Maybe he thought you were one of the other trolls who come here?
[23:02:41] <ted-ious> They seem to be using many different names so it is getting confusing.
[23:03:34] <ted-ious> Personally I have mostly stopped paying close attention to #soylent for various reasons.
[23:05:06] <AlwaysNever> I also have some personal opinios, but I'll keep them to myself, given that non-aligned opinion are considered hostile by default
[23:10:55] <ted-ious> It shouldn't be.
[23:11:35] <ted-ious> I love learning new things from people with different opinions.
[23:11:51] <ted-ious> As long as they're not jerks about it.
