[09:00:35] <chromas> In the olden days, you could press Escape in the browser to stop JIFs from animating. That doesn't work anymore, but clicking the tab seems to do it
[09:13:25] <Ingar> modern browsers should have settings somewhere to disable all the crap
[09:13:37] <chromas> But then they wouldn't be modern
[09:14:01] <Ingar> it depends on your definitioni of modern ofc
[09:14:14] <Ingar> it's true browsers have been rather devolving as of late
[09:14:27] <chromas> The reason Internet Explorer was great is that it held back unnecessary Progress™ in browser masturbation technology
[09:15:16] <Ingar> no it just wanted to tie you to Microsuck stimulators
[09:15:45] <chromas> I don't know anyone who actually used their shit, other than ip cameras for some reason
[09:15:46] <Ingar> Netscape 4 was the best
[09:16:49] <chromas> I remember Netscape put a char(255) at the end of bookmarked URLs for some reason when you copied them, and chathouse.com used that for their sooper seekrit hacker channel
[09:19:02] <chromas> Back when all the browsers had throbbers for some reason

[16:33:50] <janrinok> doesn't look like it
[16:34:31] <chromas> hah
[16:34:39] <janrinok> heh
[16:34:56] <chromas> hee
[16:35:03] <janrinok> ho
[16:35:18] <janrinok> when is thanksgiving?
[16:35:45] <janrinok> I'd better prepare to let all the usians have a day off....
[16:36:02] <chromas> end of the month
[16:36:36] <chromas> The 28st this year
[16:36:50] <janrinok> A run up practise feast for Christmas
[16:37:55] <chromas> This one's completely different. There's a thanksgiving turkey
[16:38:02] <chromas> christmas has a christmas turkey
[16:38:16] <janrinok> I don't seem to be able to join #staff
[16:38:51] <janrinok> not important - I only go there infrequently
[16:39:15] <janrinok> our turkeys are all the same shape.
[16:39:42] <janrinok> ... and they down get thrown out of helicopters
[16:39:55] <janrinok> *don't get thrown
[16:40:07] <chromas> they down? well up it!
[16:40:58] <chromas> weird, I don't see any flags that should be keeping you out
[16:45:03] <janrinok> I'm trying to rewrite one of my python progs into Go - and there is one routine in the API that just will not work. It is structured like all of the others, it works in python, but in Go I just get the middle finger.
[16:46:37] <janrinok> about 10 lines of code and I have been stuck on it for over an hour. I've deleted it and started again. Nope, still will not work, I've checked all of the types, and names, etc.
[16:47:29] <janrinok> so I am hoping to have a break from it to see if that helps.
[16:48:03] <chromas> Maybe the middle finger was the errors you checked for along the way
[16:49:06] <janrinok> TMB's error reporting is just RTFM! And if you RTFM he has written "should really put something useful in here". Yep, pity he didn't :)
[16:51:05] <chromas> any error reports from the go functions?
[16:54:46] <janrinok> nope - the go code is looking good and is common to several functions so it does work.
[17:32:55] <kolie> The linodes are moved.
[17:36:07] <kolie> python and go are a bit differnet.
[18:07:23] <janrinok> kolie - thanks for moving the linodes.
[18:10:11] <kolie> yea np
[18:10:18] <kolie> the first transfer expired initiated and accepted a new one
[18:10:34] <kolie> I'm seeing all of them in the phoenix acct now.
[18:30:04] <kolie> I added mail.soylentnews.org back in addition to mx ( mx is still primary )
