[01:31:41] <halibut> Default startup directory for Firefox is probably your home directory. Parent directory is probably /home. Not sure how much it matters, because pretty much every path-related operation I can think of that Firefox does is based on something else (default Download directory for most save operations, root for file:// URLs, something like ~/.mozille/firefox/<random_stuff>/ for profile stuff, etc.).
[01:32:09] <halibut> I am curious what good it will do to know, but there is a way to tell, if Firefox is running, what it's current working directory is:
[01:32:31] <halibut> for p in $(pgrep firefox) ; do ls -l /proc/"$p"/cwd ; done
[01:32:47] <halibut> That will tell you the current working directory for every process called ``firefox''.

[17:27:53] <kolie> hellow orld.
[17:28:35] <requerdanos> ¡hola!
[17:30:44] <kolie> exciting as always at work!
[17:31:20] <kolie> trying to get a fiber install configured. these guys have some form that tell me how they want to number their infrastructure, so I email them back what I want "that's not how we do it"
[17:31:30] <kolie> I don't know why you let me fill out the form then lol.
[17:31:47] <kolie> I told my rep - fill it out with whatever standard shit you do - and I'll sign it.
[17:31:53] <kolie> So weird.
[17:37:15] <requerdanos> the point is the fiber, not the nomenclature, I guess
[17:40:38] <kolie> It's how they do the L2/L3 handoff
[17:40:57] <kolie> They were asking me how many ips do you need - I told them I need none I'm bringing my own.
[17:42:59] <kolie> But yea always fun. I do a lot of fiber installs never had a hangup over this before - every vendor does what they need to provision the requested service.
[18:16:19] <kolie> Also I officially hate cpan.

[22:54:35] <Bytram> Thanks for the suggestions everybody; I was eventually to get Firefox working! When it starts to display, rapidly close windows! (For example repeated Ctrl+F4 or clicking close window tabs)
[22:54:42] <Bytram> .
[22:55:15] <requerdanos> yikes, direct warfare yields victory against your own free software
[23:50:11] <chromas> Free range software
[23:50:27] <chromas> It goes where it wants; does what it wants
[23:57:21] <Bytram> Now for a fresh challenge. I use HexChat. In full screen. Each line displayed is preceded by a timestamp with this format: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SSxxxx followed by a vertical bar and then the message text. The problem comes with the formatting. Wait for ac exabple!
[23:57:46] <Bytram> <chromas> That's okay, they also forget the punchlines too :D
