[17:54:31] <janrinok> Have a good day at work - sorry you have to work today
[17:54:22] -!- AzumaHazuki has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[17:54:16] <janrinok> yep. But at least Ari's are obvious so we can identify and sometimes kill them in as little as 2 hours
[17:54:13] <AzumaHazuki> okay, time for work...good luck with this mess @_@ even i didn't think it was THAT bad, eesh
[17:53:46] <AzumaHazuki> christ, that's awful
[17:53:37] <janrinok> we get, on average, 5 new accounts each day. The last 400 or so have produced 2 actual accounts. I spend my time analysing the accounts because I am weird that way.... :)
[17:51:47] <janrinok> The majority are spam, bots and sock-puppet accounts which we close down.
[17:51:30] <AzumaHazuki> at a rough glance, maybe 200
[17:51:21] <janrinok> We have 17400 'accounts' - how many do you see posting on the site?
[17:51:01] <janrinok> Banning AC posting just means that lots of spurious accounts would appear each day, post whatever they wish, and then never get used again. We cannot put a time delay between creating and account and being able to post (no programmer, remember) and it wouldn't solve the problem anyway.
[17:50:04] <AzumaHazuki> I didn't post AC
[17:47:55] <janrinok> but I have no problem with that either.
[17:47:34] <janrinok> You posted anon earlier today, "buttercup"
[17:47:13] <janrinok> It is something that we have considered several times - but each time have decided that we lose more than we gain.
[17:47:12] <AzumaHazuki> i don't ask anyone to do anything i don't do myself :)
[17:46:53] <AzumaHazuki> in my estimation it's not a punishment; it's making people have skin in the game. if they want to say something they can say it 1) with their own account and 2) without hordes of astroturfing AC sockpuppets bolstering the position
[17:46:10] <janrinok> Ah, so you would prefer that we punish loads of people for the crimes of one? We don't agree with that either - tempting as it sometime appears.
[17:45:44] <AzumaHazuki> ^ this. also eat my entire ass, progo :<
[17:45:32] <janrinok> It's fine - she is entitled to her opinion and is free to give it. No point in hassling her for no good reason.
[17:45:29] <AzumaHazuki> which would have the effect of forcing him to use his account or STFU
[17:45:17] <AzumaHazuki> actually, no, i'd prefer if you disabled AC posting entirely
[17:44:55] <progo> AzumaHazuki isn't happy unless she's upset about stuff like this :^)
[17:44:44] <janrinok> We don't however, think that that would be much of a deterrent.
[17:44:11] <janrinok> So you would prefer that we just let him return to do what he was doing (including doxing?) before he was banned. That is very forgiving of you.
[17:42:59] <janrinok> It's not wasting my time. The software flags his accounts up, the Admins agree on the action, and we click another button to kill the account.
[17:42:25] <AzumaHazuki> i wonder why he can't abide by that? i've yelled at him for well over a year to do it like I do, i.e., that way
[17:41:51] <janrinok> We have not removed any posts by him, or removed his journals. If he creates a single account and plays by the rules then he can stay, otherwise he goes. It is quite simple.
[17:41:22] <AzumaHazuki> you know he's just going to keep wasting your time, right? he's doing what's politely known as "Bayesian poisoning"
[17:40:44] <janrinok> Well if we told you he would probably stop making those silly mistakes - so hard luck.
[17:40:43] <AzumaHazuki> and this really doesn't fit the "freeze peach uber alles" assumption this place is supposedly founded on
[17:40:21] <AzumaHazuki> you're hiding a bit too much from us, IMO, about how you do these things
[17:40:05] <janrinok> We don't use hashes much to identify people nowadays, Ari just makes it easy for us.
[17:39:11] <janrinok> I am not giving details - but his security is rubbish. He logged in as NobodyAristarchus, posted by name and by AC using the same hashes, and then left before he was banned - which is what we have been doing for several weeks now.
[17:38:07] <AzumaHazuki> how can you tell who it is?
[17:37:53] <janrinok> His hashes tie in with today's sock puppet - NobodyAristarchus which has since be banned and disabled
[17:37:07] <janrinok> No, but his security is rubbish - we can tell exactly who it is.
[17:36:45] <AzumaHazuki> you can't 100% be sure any AC slagging on Runaway is Ari though. You can get close enough to be morally certain but still
[17:36:26] <janrinok> We have closed down numerous of his sock puppets in the last few weeks too
[17:35:36] <janrinok> The Ban issued last year stated that ALL posts by Ari will be treated as Spam.
[17:34:51] <AzumaHazuki> i've noticed a couple of Ari-as-AC's posts getting spam modded. it's obvious it's him but it's still an abuse of the system
[17:34:41] <janrinok> how's things?
[17:34:28] <AzumaHazuki> hello, janrinok
