[00:17:07] <Runaway1956> Oh - I haz something of a report on my other project
[00:17:41] <Runaway1956> I upgraded my CPUs after a CPU folding at home WU had been running for a day.
[00:18:11] <Runaway1956> The WU had 6 days left to run, and time per flop was at 1 hr 40 minutes
[00:18:45] <Runaway1956> After changing out CPUs that time dropped to 58 minutes, then went back up a little to 1 hr 3 minutes
[00:19:04] <Runaway1956> So, doubling the cores didn't halve the time per WU
[00:19:26] <Runaway1956> Things may look different after this WU is returned, and start on another
[00:19:36] <Runaway1956> but I'll have no real comparison to go by
[00:20:48] <Runaway1956> TBH, I wouldn't have been surprised if the WU just failed after changing out the hardware
[00:20:59] <chromas> Maybe the WU is set up ahead of time for your specific number of cores and doesn't change if your count does
[00:21:40] <Runaway1956> No, the FAHControl shows that the cores are being used, and system management shows a high load on all the cores

[00:32:46] <systemd> ^ 03New drivers add performance-boosting memory-access feature to older AMD GPUs
[00:36:40] <Runaway1956> That's interesting Bytram
[00:37:37] <Bytram> Runaway1956: I thought you might find it interesting!
[00:37:43] <Runaway1956> nVidia has had some articles about shared shared system memory - I never dived very deep into it
[00:38:53] <Bytram> also, I recall spacex has a launch tonight, but struggling to find details
[00:41:19] <chromas> There's one for the 15th

[00:42:19] <systemd> ^ 03SpaceX
[00:42:33] <chromas> ah, tonight at 2015 pt
[00:42:42] <chromas> I'm assuming pt is pacific time but I dunno
[00:44:15] <Bytram> >>> SpaceX is targeting Monday, September 13 for a Falcon 9 launch of 51 Starlink satellites from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The instantaneous window is at 8:55 p.m. PDT, or September 14 at 3:55 UTC, and a backup opportunity is available on Tuesday, September 14 at 8:56 p.m. PDT, or September 15 at 3:56 UTC.
[00:44:15] <Bytram> The booster supporting this mission previously launched Telstar 18 VANTAGE, Iridium-8, and seven Starlink missions. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which will be stationed in the Pacific Ocean. One half of Falcon 9’s fairing halves previously supported NROL-108 and the other previously flew on GPS III-3 and Turksat-5A.

[00:48:43] <Runaway1956> I thought pt was Putin Time

[00:50:38] <systemd> ^ 03Russia's MISERABLE Attempt To COPY SpaceX & Elon Musk
[00:50:41] <chromas> speaking of putin
[00:51:06] <chromas> "funny how the video is talking about Russian "attempt to copy Musk", mentioning grid-fins as an example, without knowing that grid fins were used on Russian N-1 in the '70s. The author also failed to mention that F9 is partially reusable (only the first stage is reusable) and then talks about Russian's plan to land a second stage... There are a few more similar fails in this video.
[00:51:06] <chromas> This guy clearly knows nothing about Space tech, Roscosmos nor SpaceX. He is only trying to get the views by using SpaceX and Elon Musk in the title..."
[00:51:18] <Bytram> putin on the ritz?
[00:52:25] <chromas> is that a Russian hors-d'œuvre?
[00:52:39] <Runaway1956> Lots of people have little idea what they're talking about in videos
[00:52:56] <Runaway1956> they get away with it, because their audience doesn't know any better
[00:53:30] <Runaway1956> Horse douvers? Is that a new gait or something?
[00:54:11] * Runaway1956 only knows 4 gaits so he can't ride a 7-gaited horse
[00:54:56] <chromas> what about gait o' raid?
[00:55:14] <Runaway1956> the pythons got them
[00:55:41] <Bytram> that would be out of step[pe]

[04:33:31] <Runaway1956> all say "data not available"
[04:33:51] <Runaway1956> and, I'm wondering how many people might WANT to be vaxxed, but can't get it?
[04:34:19] <Runaway1956> Data not available may translate ultimately into vax not available.
[04:35:59] <chromas> Doses Administered column also NA
[04:36:54] <Runaway1956> going out to the national map, Arkansas is on par with 1/2 the country
[04:37:09] <chromas> which half?
[04:37:33] <Runaway1956> Central half, basically -
[04:37:48] <Runaway1956> New England is well vaxxed,
[04:37:55] <Runaway1956> Florida and Texas
[04:38:00] <Runaway1956> Wash and Ore
[04:38:18] <chromas> Dark Reader extension screws up the color coding on the map so that the blue gets lighter toward the mid percentages then gets darker again
[04:38:50] <Runaway1956> Yeah, that's why I have multiple browsers - they each have different extensions, so they each screw up a site in their own unique way
[04:39:39] <Runaway1956> Sorry, I must be more tired than I though - Texas is only medium dark blue, that is New Mexico that is well vaxxed
[04:39:45] <Runaway1956> DERP!
[04:41:11] <Runaway1956> The reason I went looking for that information - turns out that 'Straya is less well vaxxed than I thought
[04:41:43] <Runaway1956> A few highly populated areas are over 75%, overall, it seems they are on par with the US
[04:43:58] <Runaway1956> Back to the US - only 5 states remain below 55% vaccinated
[04:44:14] <Runaway1956> Idaho, Wyoming, Miss, Ala, and W.Va.
[04:44:47] <chromas> Are they all dead yet?
[04:45:13] <Runaway1956> Don't think so, but I haven't driven there to look for myself
[04:45:53] <chromas> What were your new CPUs? Still Opterons?
[04:46:13] <Runaway1956> Yeah, same socket to fit right into the old computer
[04:46:24] <Runaway1956> 6278s
[04:47:35] <Runaway1956> After I bought them some 6378s went up on Ebay for the same price
[04:47:41] * Runaway1956 sighs
[04:48:53] <chromas> Ah. Just scrolled by an opteron but it's a crappy 4k
[04:48:56] <Runaway1956> of course, there's not as much difference between 6200s and 6300s as there is between 6100s and 6200s
[04:49:21] <Runaway1956> 100mhz speed, and a couple of newer instruction sets is all
