[03:19:14] <mecctro> cmn32480: yea, it's a mess, I'm trying to sort through some of it. I just got it to compile (with some minor lingering issues) on perl 5.24.0 : I also submitted some patches that should fix the installation procedure, and wrote a wrapper for the entry portion that should (mostly) auto-install the whole thing on debian 8.
[03:19:39] <cmn32480> damn
[03:19:49] <mecctro> now for a proper fork to fix all the linger installation / make issues.

[03:19:53] <mecctro> lingering*
[03:20:08] <cmn32480> very nice :-)
[03:20:38] <mecctro> I suppose, I'm not really a perl person, so there's a little learning curve, but the erros seems fairly readable.
[03:20:46] <mecctro> errors*
[03:21:09] <mecctro> the install now, it compiles threadless...
[03:21:49] <mecctro> I think on my first (successful) dry run, 4 threads i7, 2 GB ram - took almost an hour to setup.
[03:22:22] <mecctro> now that I've wrapped it, the test and compilation are parallel, so it's down to maybe 15 minutes.

No need for the nick change when a simple Away change will do.. most IRC clients understand it and show the nick in a faded shade. [04:32:53] <Deucalion> currently exploring in The Long Dark - still "Alpha" but a new update came out and it fixed all the immersion breaking sound bugs that the linux version has had forever.
[04:39:46] <mecctro> interesting, I think I asked someone about that one awhile back
[04:40:05] <mecctro> They said they liked it, but wish there was more to do, at the time.
[04:46:25] <Deucalion> There are challenges now if that's your thing. Story Mode is still not done. It's just such a beautiful expansive game already to mooch around in. There is plenty to do now, pretty much every mechanism has been revamped in the last year. But honestly, I can wander around the place and not give two hoots about the gameplay because the scenery and ambience just takes me away from the grind of life. So for me... more art with a game tacked on
[04:46:25] <Deucalion> :D
[04:58:15] <mecctro> Write a sub about it, it sounds pretty interesting. I haven't been following it closely, but I know a few people who have played it, and sayed it was a hell of a lot better pace for solo-play.

[08:45:47] <FatPhil> boru: that's an interesting idea, but I'm sure the cost of entry is high, as they know people will be tempted to abuse it.
[08:46:31] <FatPhil> My green energy's only about a 10% premium, and all I get for that is warm fuzzies inside, and the right to use the green energy logo on my company website.
[08:46:44] <boru> I actually don't think it's _that_ high; it's partially subsidised by the government, at least partially, I think.
[08:47:05] <boru> You'd be surprised how successful it is there.
[08:47:31] <boru> There are local recycling coops and that sort of thing; people get subsidised the more they recycle etc.
[08:47:50] <boru> The people are pretty ethical in this regard, there. Environment is important.
[08:48:15] <boru> Recycling is nearly a national sport.
[08:49:16] <boru> Anyway, long story short, renewable is good, but I think, for sustainability, it can only accomanpy another long term power source like nuclear power.
[08:49:38] <boru> Hopefully we'll see fusion reactors soon.
