[00:21:44] <Mooooooooon> the zombies keep eating me; is that normal?
[00:29:38] <JamesNZ> Everything's normal, if you're brave enough.

[00:57:41] <Bytram> SirFinkus: Hi! Comment count issue existed on the green site long ago, too. I reported it to them and was told it was a known, long-standing bug. My recollection is that if I look at a comment's score when I am logged in as the user who submitted it, I see a different score than when I am either not logged in, or when I am logged in as a different user. Yes, it seems to be related to the Karma bonus modifier.
[01:04:34] <Mooooooooon> I seem to have misplaced the moon
[01:07:04] <cmn32480> check in the couch cushions... that is where I usually find stuff
[01:31:38] <Mooooooooon> the moon! the moon! what is happening to the moon! oh, gods protect us; we are doomed! the moon is disappearing from the sky!

[01:33:28] <Schwifty> ^ 03China may launch Type 001A carrier on Mao's birthday: report|WCT
[01:37:09] <TheMightyBuzzard> okay, who broke the moon?
[01:38:00] <Deucalion> Bytram of course!
[01:38:24] <Bytram> =)
[01:46:44] Gravis_ is now known as Gravis
[01:49:15] <Deucalion> Or more correctly stated.... someone inadvertently fucked up while coding the moon and Bytram spotted it. Sadly not until it had been launched into orbit for a few gazillion years. I suggest we make Bytram a time lord so he can have the power of time travel. I do have reservations about that suggestion though... time travel poses all kinds of moral dilemmas - we'd need a policy... but then what if he went back in time and edited said policy to
[01:49:16] <Deucalion> sanction his own actions ahead of time. I think these kind currently insoluble dilemmas are why we stupid humans, with our inability to grasp such things have not been granted the gift of time travel by the FSM. Or something.

[02:20:16] <Mooooooooon> nice eclipse... very red
[02:20:31] <Mooooooooon> at least it was until the bloody clouds and hid everything
[02:20:55] <Mooooooooon> I didn't actually get to see it come back... I hope it does
[02:22:02] <Mooooooooon> that's always a risk with an eclipse... if they don't get the math JUST right... BOOM! No more moon.
[02:22:45] <SirFinkus> ahh, glad it is known Bytram
[02:22:47] <Deucalion> Where will we get our cheese from if there is no more moon?
[02:22:53] <SirFinkus> I keep thinking I was downmodded or something
[02:23:24] <Mooooooooon> I dunno, but you'd better hope NASA didn't forget to convert from metric this time
[02:23:25] <SirFinkus> as far as the moon goes, can't see shit here
[02:24:00] <Mooooooooon> I had a great view until just after totallity, when the clouds rolled in
[02:24:29] <Mooooooooon> well, as great as I probably could get in a major metropolis... lights of glaring lights
[02:24:59] <Mooooooooon> actually, I normally find eclipses rather dull - it's just a shadow on a rock - but these days they are pretty much the only astronomical event I can see :)
[02:27:14] <SirFinkus> yard is too obscured

[02:51:53] <SpallsHurgenson> an exec? nothing so respectable as the janitorial staff, then
[02:52:02] <SirFinkus> haha
[02:52:54] <SirFinkus> at least he's not a politician
[02:53:54] <SpallsHurgenson> nobody ever admits to having a politician as a relative
[02:55:45] <SpallsHurgenson> better to be thought a copraphage than a politician :)

[03:41:46] <SirFinkus> sure

Visible identifiers and stuff about laying them on clean paper overnight to see if they shed spores etc. before frying them up for brekkie in an omelette. Sadly missed book, dined in many a time on the back of that on foraged stuff. One does not just tuck into foraged bracket fungi and the like without identification - that's like russian roule

[22:43:17] <JamesNZ> Maliciousness? :P
[22:43:44] <Gravis> nope, and instruction set
[22:44:01] <chromas> biological viruses reproduce in live organisms. if a computer virus could reproduce without the computer being alive, wouldn't that make it something else, instead of a virus?
[22:44:58] <Gravis> chromas: biological viruses cannot reproduce without the help of the host, just like computer viruses
[22:45:50] <chromas> Right, but you claimed that if they could reproduce on their own, then computer viruses would be alive
