[00:04:43] <juggs> I always liked light, chuckable bikes. But more importantly low centre of gravity. Going from a 350cc tuned two stroke to a GSXR1100 (L model) or an older CB1000 transverse six was an absolute nightmare. Trying to get those things to corner was scary - had to monkey hang of the side to get them to turn at all. The GSXR was particularly bad - fast, but awful. Straight line had the bars slapping and cornering was like wrestling an elephant.
[00:09:52] <swiss> that sucks.
[00:12:58] <juggs> I doubt there's many gsxr's from that era left on the road - mostly crashed. I guess that's what happens when you bring race track geometry to the road.
[00:13:16] <swiss> lol
[00:13:16] <ciri> hehehe
[00:13:28] <swiss> i might do a zx-6r next
[00:13:29] <swiss> idk
[00:20:04] <juggs> just enjoy what you have now. life is not a race,
[00:26:57] <swiss> if i got a zx-6r it'd be for the track
[00:26:59] <swiss> not the road
[00:27:08] <swiss> i live near buttonwillow
[00:28:02] <swiss> TheMightyBuzzard: i will say, i'm surprised 4chan is censoring
[00:28:17] <swiss> and when 4chan censors, I have to wonder if I'm right to argue otherwise

[00:29:41] <juggs> I'd rather bike for the track and cage for the road here.

[01:03:31] <SirFinkus> I want one of the ariel atoms, near the performance of a sport bike, but with a roll bar
[01:05:02] <SpallsHurgenson> I've often considered getting a motorcycle, but then I think: rain.
[01:06:49] <SpallsHurgenson> if only they made an enclosed motorcycle of some sort
[01:07:31] <SpallsHurgenson> could use more storage and passenger area while they are at it
[01:07:34] <SpallsHurgenson> and maybe with something more stable than a two-wheels design, too

[01:16:14] <juggs> :D Bikers - organ donors in waiting. Don't hate us for doing what we like and enjoy. Instead see us as idiotic organ donors queueing to leave an organ here or there with none of that expensive old age care burden.
[01:16:40] <SpallsHurgenson> dibbs on jugg's kidneys!
[01:18:52] <juggs> yah - word to the wise - might want to avoid the liver and kidneys on this one. Oh... lungs too.
[01:20:01] <SpallsHurgenson> hmmm
[01:20:13] <chromas> smokers with insurance need new parts too
[01:20:18] * SpallsHurgenson gives juggs eyeballs an appraising poke. "Do you have these in another color?"
[01:24:32] <juggs> I have irises that colour shift on whim from grey to blue to green. These come in any colour but brown.
[01:24:49] <SpallsHurgenson> <poke poke>
[01:25:59] <juggs> stop poking my eyes you oddball
[01:26:16] <SpallsHurgenson> but it makes such a delightful squishing sound :)
[01:26:54] <juggs> so did you brain when I trod on it a while back
[01:27:22] <SpallsHurgenson> brain? what is brain?
[01:28:54] <juggs> it's your new russian grill friend - don't you read your email?
[01:29:48] <SpallsHurgenson> ooh, Russian barbecue!
[01:30:07] <juggs> BBQ! WTF!! BBQ!!!
[01:31:06] <SpallsHurgenson> o_0
[01:32:51] <juggs> all we need now is someone dropping a joke about -spit-roast- and we'll be back to the 90s. The circle complete.
[01:35:20] <SpallsHurgenson> umm... uh... I'm just going to go stand over there.

[02:48:56] <Popeidol> so apple server caching service, the service that is designed to cache ios and osx updates locally to stop your network being swamped
[02:49:16] <Popeidol> does not support caching the ios 8 update
[02:50:03] <SpallsHurgenson> well, it's only 1GB :)
[02:50:25] <Bender> [SoylentNews] - Middle-School Dropout Codes Clever Chat Program to Foil NSA Spying - http://sylnt.us - mother-of-invention
[02:50:45] <Popeidol> exactly, there's no way it could go wrong
[02:51:30] <Popeidol> I feel the 8/8 connection at the office may suffer a little
[02:51:33] <SpallsHurgenson> besides, I don't think apple's iDevices are that popular, so what are the odds that anyone is going to pull down the update anyway?
[02:56:57] <SpallsHurgenson> actually, it's sort of annoying - although understandable - that there isn't just one download for all the different devices, so even if they DID cache I'd still get hit with the extra load :)
[03:10:48] <Popeidol> we've got about 60 work devices in the office but only two models, I'd be very happy with the cache
[03:11:04] <Popeidol> (not including all the personal devices which will be a lot more varied)
[03:11:51] <Popeidol> on the plus side, the apple update servers seem to be overloaded and queueing download attempts for quite a while
[03:13:32] <SpallsHurgenson> personally, I blame Microsoft

[04:09:24] <Ethanol-fueled> Hahah, well, my next question was "how long does it take to be good enough on a bike to ride on the highways and not kill yourself."
[04:09:37] <Ethanol-fueled> But I guess you haven't been riding long enough to know that, haha.
[04:09:46] <swiss> well, I rode now cause i know the freeway was empty
[04:10:04] <swiss> and it's not like the motorcycle is the first time I've been around traffic, i've been driving for years
[04:10:13] <swiss> i just gave myself more space between cars when merging and such

[15:08:12] <TK> Anyone know when Scotland's referendum vote will be in? Preferably in Central Daylight Time.
[15:13:48] <juggs> TK - Polling stations close at 10pm (Scottish time - currently BST (UTC+1)) - I believe that is 4pm CDT. However the chief counting officer has stated she expects to announce the result around "breakfast time" on Friday so probably the very early hours Friday CDT

[15:21:19] <Lagg> I'm getting really fucking tired of the whining about technical articles or lack thereof
[15:21:49] <Lagg> I've whined about it exactly once and only because of outstandingly false and biased summary rather than the fact it was political. And I /hate/ politics.
[15:22:16] <Lagg> What is so hard to understand about a site that aggregates interesting articles and provides a discussion medium
[15:22:18] <juggs> let me guess - from commenters who have never submitted a single article per chance?
[15:22:27] <Lagg> It was an AC so probably
[15:23:19] <Lagg> I really don't understand why a project like this has people that misunderstand it so much. It's an aggregator for interesting articles and a useful discussion system. That's it. Why is that so goddamned hard to grasp for these people
[15:23:54] <Lagg> People did this with slashdot too. As if there werent political articles when cmdrtaco was there
[15:24:16] <Lagg> "This is an article /I/ don't find interesting and therefore it shouldn't be here regardless of site philosophy"
[15:24:51] <juggs> pretty much sums it up ~shrug~
[15:28:42] <Blackmoore> *shrug*
[15:29:08] <Blackmoore> we should just keep posting stuff that interests *us*
[15:31:10] <juggs> exactly - it's easy enough just to scroll past those which are not of interest to *me*
[15:32:28] <Lagg> I read everything whether I like it or not. Then try to seed discussion.
[15:32:34] <Lagg> And I do it all without whining, now

[15:32:44] <Lagg> Mmmmbow to meh
[15:32:53] <TK> That's right, save the whining for IRC
[15:33:00] <TK> /s
[15:33:01] <Lagg> Yes, the meta whining
[15:33:52] <TK> Question: given two articles, submitted at the same time, one tech-focused, the ther politically focused, which do you post first?
[15:35:01] <Lagg> If I were an editor I'd do the tech one probably. Because I'm me.
[15:35:03] <Konomi> the one htat came in first
[15:35:12] <Konomi> unless people are submitting articles on the same nano secon d
[15:35:42] <Lagg> Well there is an obligation to prioritize the queue
[15:36:29] <juggs> Depends on more than just the topic - for example one article could have time criticality in which case it would likely go first or even be pushed ahead of stuff already pipelined for release. Need one of the Eds to pipe up really :D
[15:39:17] <Konomi> everything is science to me politics is just the label people put on it when they don't want to deal with it
[15:41:43] <Lagg> That's not really an apt label then

[16:21:49] <Konomi> the time stamps command me
