[00:33:46] <systemd> ^ 03Live updates: New York fire that killed 19 likely began with space heater, fire chief says
[00:34:51] <Bytram> =eds Should we run this story as breaking news?

[08:59:55] <janrinok> Late as usual - but I would say No. Unless you want every home fire in the rest of the world reporting the same way. It is a disaster and I am sorry for all of those concerned. But personally I wouldn't interrupt a board meeting in a big company to announce it. There is no technical or IT connection.
[09:01:21] <janrinok> Something that will affect a significant proportion of our communities lives or wouldn't have occurred without computers or technology then maybe it is worth a story.
[09:04:18] <janrinok> Bytram, SQL views do have their uses as you have noted. They also allow searches that might require several queries and which are repeated regularly to be encapsulated into a single SQL invocation. You might already use one to calculate the funding and contributions for example.
[09:06:02] <janrinok> I can think of several reasons that I will have to use them when investigating complaints or looking at specific activity.

[11:27:04] <janrinok> Bytram, good effort on stuffing the story queue! If every editor could do that we could all work one day a week!
[13:34:44] <Bytram> janrinok: Neat! Makes sense, now that you mention it!
[13:38:34] <Bytram> As for queue-stuffing... Monday's tend to start off rough with few things to work from until the world wakes up and starts to post things; saw some stuff I *could* push out, so I did. Was nice to go to bed knowing things were in good shape -- made it much easier to fall asleep!
