[03:05:22] <Bytram> chromas: ^^^ just happened upon this today -- didn't know if you might find it interesting?
[03:05:59] <Bytram> past my bedtime; have a great night everybody!
[03:31:45] <Fnord666> AzumaHazuki - What did you make?
[03:32:09] <AzumaHazuki> a healthier version of chicken tikka masala
[03:32:40] <Fnord666> I love that dish. What did you update?
[03:32:51] <Fnord666> Share the recipe?
[03:33:24] <AzumaHazuki> using only 1 Tbsp of oil for the entire thing, 2 Tbsp of nonfat greek yogurt in marinade, and 1/4 cup half and half for creaminess. and very lean breast meat
[03:34:18] <AzumaHazuki> basically: chop green bell pepper, onion, and chicken into small pieces and mix in 2 Tbsp yogurt, 2 Tbsp chilli powder, 2 Tbsp ginger-garlic paste, and some salt. mix and refrigerate for 30 min. at least
[03:35:27] <AzumaHazuki> puree 2 small or one large tomato and set puree aside, do the same with the other half onion and set in different container. fry up marinated chicken/veg in 1 Tbsp oil for ~10m and set aside.
[03:36:18] <AzumaHazuki> into the "dirty" pot, fry the onion puree until the remaiing oil starts to separate from it, then add the tomato puree and fry another 2m or so. add 2 Tbsp coriander powder, 2 Tbsp garam masala powder, fry a bit more, then add the chicken and veg back in
[03:36:51] <AzumaHazuki> add in 1/4 cup half and half and reduce till it stops being watery, stirring all the while. serve over rice.
[03:37:10] <Fnord666> Thank you!
[03:37:48] <AzumaHazuki> 'welcome :) I *think* I got everything. ...you might want another tomato and maybe some more half and half, since this came out a little dry. this was 1lb of chicken meat by the way
[03:38:03] <Fnord666> noted
[03:39:46] <AzumaHazuki> ~600kcal chicken, ~130kcal oil, ~100kcal half and half, ~25kcal yogurt, ~200kcal vegetables/aromatics. The entire thing is therefore about 1050kcal.
[03:39:59] <AzumaHazuki> and yes, i ate half of it at one sitting :v
[03:40:18] <Fnord666> :)
[03:41:36] <Fnord666> It sounds awesome
[03:41:49] <AzumaHazuki> i got to make the garam masala from whole spices too. there's an Indian store nearby that had all the bits and i have a coffee grinder that only ever gets used for spices
[03:42:03] <Fnord666> Ditto on the grinder
[03:48:01] <AzumaHazuki> My garam masala was: 4 Tbsp coriander seed, 2 tsp cumin seed, 3 bay leaves, 5 dried red chillis, 1 star anise pod, 12 black peppercorns, 12 little green cardamom pods, a few inches cinnamon bark.
[03:48:15] <AzumaHazuki> but everyone has their own recipe. i'll try adding some cloves next time
[03:52:01] <Fnord666> Do you roast any/all of your spices?
[03:58:24] <AzumaHazuki> none of these were roasted but i may try that next time

[20:47:26] <Bytram> I've been dragging all weekend long; combo of low barometer and allergies have wiped me out. Took a nap today and that seemed to help. Going to bed early tonight and see if I can sleep it off. I'm going to need you to keep the queue filled for the next day or so.
[20:48:00] <Bytram> Fnord666: ^^^ I delagate to you in my absence.
