[03:47:22] <Bytram> Fnord666: !!
[03:47:38] <Fnord666> Bytram!!
[03:47:56] <Bytram> Thanks for pushing out so many stories tonight!
[03:48:28] <Fnord666> np. One of the reasons I'm here.
[03:48:39] <Bytram> teamwork++
[03:48:39] <Bender> karma - teamwork: 246
[03:48:47] <Fnord666> indeed
[03:49:46] * Bytram somehow had two copies of hexchat running at once :/
[03:51:06] <Fnord666> That way you don't miss anything?
[03:51:17] <Fnord666> or one for your alter-ego?
[03:51:39] <Bytram> how 'bout an altar-ego? ;)
[03:52:08] <Bytram> did you get a chance to listen to the CD?
[03:53:16] <Fnord666> I have not yet. I've been trying to get Exact Audio Copy running. EAC is the program I've used for many years for ripping CDs but I haven't used it in a while.
[03:53:40] <Bytram> nod nod
[03:53:41] <Fnord666> It's being persnickety for some reason.
[03:54:10] * Bytram tries to remember what he used to rip CDs
[03:57:07] <Fnord666> EAC is good for used CDs where there might be imperfections in the disc.
[03:57:40] <Fnord666> I tend to get most of my physical copies of music from second hand audio stores.
[03:58:47] <Bytram> lately, it's been the same for me... I've got a collection of disks I got over the past few months, but have failed to make the time to rip them.
[03:58:51] <Bytram> hmmm...
[04:02:01] <chromas> cdparanoia's an eac-like ripper for linux
[04:02:18] <chromas> might not have a gui though
[04:04:43] <Fnord666> I've used that one in the past as well. no GUI = no problem.
[04:06:47] <chromas> I like KDE's ripper in Dolphin/Konqueror. It presents the disc as a folder with WAVs, mp3s, FLACs and OGGs, then you just copy over the one you want and it rips and encodes, optionally naming the files using a Cd database on the internet
[04:06:58] <chromas> but it's less anal the paranoia and eac
[04:07:04] <chromas> s/the/than/
[04:07:05] <exec> <chromas> but it's less anal than paranoia and eac
[04:07:13] <chromas> s/anal/rectal/
[04:07:14] <exec> <chromas> but it's less rectal the paranoia and eac
[04:17:00] <Fnord666> lol.
[04:17:20] <Fnord666> I will have to check that out. That's an interesting interface idea.
[04:18:13] <Bytram> Fnord666: u have mail
[04:18:55] <Fnord666> k
[04:19:37] <Bytram> it's times like these I wish I had a faster internet connection
[04:22:27] <Fnord666> haven't seen anything yet.
[04:22:44] <Bytram> hmmm
[04:23:37] * Bytram tries to comfort himself by remembering the days of dial-up modems
[04:27:39] <Bytram> still nothing?
[04:28:08] <Bytram> 2nd file gave me a bounce message ... file too large
[04:30:14] <Fnord666> not yet
[04:31:28] * Bytram scratches his head
[04:32:25] <Bytram> ugh
[04:32:37] <Bytram> had a timeout error
[04:33:25] <Fnord666> oof
[04:34:50] <Bytram> yeah.... this is not working. was trying to send my files to you, since you now have the physical CD, but the network gods are not cooperating
[04:35:24] <Bytram> you're gonna have to it on your own, I guess.
[04:37:12] <Fnord666> bo problem. Thanks for trying though!
[04:37:17] <Fnord666> s/bo/no/
[04:37:18] <exec> <Fnord666> no problem. Thanks for trying though!
[04:37:44] <Fnord666> Definitely don't use up your data on that.
[04:42:02] <Bytram> end of month, got plenty of space left atm
[04:45:19] <Bytram> at the time, I did a 320kbps MP3, so more than good enough for my needs, but you'll prolly be better off with doing FLAC on your home system
[04:49:53] <Bytram> time for sleep. have a great night everybody!
