[00:08:53] <chromas> ^ 03Photo of blow-up Barbie Doll pretending to bench press the air, featuring "Babe for Trump" shirt over bolt-on tits
[00:13:30] <Bytram> That was... strange!
[00:14:00] <Bytram> I fed this url: https://www.zdnet.com
[00:14:04] <Bytram> into: https://chromas.0x.no
[00:14:04] <systemd> ^ 03Iranian hackers have been hacking VPN servers to plant backdoors in companies around the world
[00:14:32] <Bytram> And then clicked the start button.
[00:14:53] <Bytram> chromas: ^^^ Please let me know what you got.
[00:15:27] <chromas> "Please review our terms of service"
[00:16:02] <chromas> Which is weird because it seems to load zerohedge pages in the feed
[00:16:17] <Bytram> keep reading...
[00:17:02] <chromas> I don't seem to have that particular article of theirs in the feed so I can't test it there
[00:18:18] <Bytram> what I saw was that i should (click a button or something... don't recall) to confirm my signing up for a newsletter.
[00:18:22] <chromas> Not sure why it's extracting that text. It should be hidden but of course the bot don't know tht
[00:18:34] <chromas> It's hidden stuff in the article page
[00:19:50] <chromas> For some reason, the bot latched onto that instead of the article text
[00:19:57] * Bytram knows how hard it is to scrape web sites; not a complaint at all, but more of a... how can a GET do a signup for a newsletter? I think somebody has some strange code in there
[00:20:52] <chromas> Check line 1811 in the source
[00:21:22] <Bytram> would like to but am in the middle of processing a messy story sub atm.
[00:21:33] <Bytram> zdnet--
[00:21:33] <Bender> karma - zdnet: -1
[00:22:16] <chromas> Well anyhow, it looks like it's a hidden block of text that becomes a modal dialog when you click the right thing and probably have javascript enabled.

[03:50:15] <systemd> Thanks for submitting this story. It appears that no editor has yet selected this story to be run. At least a week has passed since the story was submitted, and if an editor was going to have selected it, they would likely have done so by now. It has, therefore, been removed from the submission queue.

[07:31:36] <janrinok> Bytram, re the Iranian Hacking of VPNs story. I've run it through storybot5, and it extracts the story but there is a lot of rubbish in there too. Storybot strips out all js at an early stage so I cannot see how much of that crap is in the original.

[13:29:31] <Bytram> ~tell chromas Hi there! Am loving all the help your bot is providing... makes things so much easier! A couple quick requests if I may? I know I had asked for a larger textarea for https://chromas.0x.no but could you please reduce the height from 32em to, say, 24em? That way the "Start" would be visible on my screen without scrolling =) Also, for "=declined", rather than dump it to the channel, can you make it pm the
[13:29:32] <Bytram> user like exec is doing with tell command? Would leave the logs a little cleaner and not advertise a sub rejection to the community. Thanks!!!!!!!

[23:17:13] <Bytram> PowellDean: Pong!
[23:17:19] <Bytram> =)
[23:17:46] <Bytram> Silly question... are you familiar with the networking command, ping?
[23:18:03] <Bytram> It's a way to reach out and see if a server is responding.
[23:18:23] <Bytram> If it is alive, it sends back a certain format packet to notify the sender of its presence.
[23:19:02] <Bytram> So, when you ping, the standard response (in inimitable nerd style, would of course be: pong!)
[23:19:10] <PowellDean> Sadly, I use it all too often. Usually followed by some sort of traceroute or nslookup
[23:19:16] <Bytram> anyway how ARE you today?

[23:33:35] <Bytram> noooo
[23:34:02] <PowellDean> Dino peered around the brightly lit operations room, with all its machinery, flashing lights, machines that go "ping", and windows (of the glass variety).
