[00:51:35] <Carny> i mean do you need help with a sciencey article?
[00:54:59] <Bytram> can always use some help, especially during the summer season when the majority of cademics are on summer vacation (at least in the northern hemisphere)

[01:30:05] <Carny> tbh a lot of my subs would be politics or hacker news links and they won't make it to front page

[01:39:15] <yuhong> Should I post a poll?
[01:40:44] <chromas> I'm trying to figure out what it is
[01:41:03] <chromas> Some sort of telemetry in Windows, I think
[01:41:19] <yuhong> Yes, but it gets more detailed than that.
[01:41:45] <yuhong> In particular, you should know what "Upgrade Readiness" is.
[01:42:44] <yuhong> And how there are different versions of DiagTrack.
[01:45:27] <chromas> I put a note on it. I'll queue it in a bit if nobody else has by then.
[01:46:08] * chromas might take a nap first
[01:47:01] <chromas> Thanks for the sub, yuhong :)
[02:30:38] <yuhong> All while Slashdot was posting the Ed Bott story, which is unlikely to have the details mine have.

[15:02:42] <Bytram> need to reboot by PC... may be a while before I can make it back
[15:35:27] <Bytram> PC came back okay... yay! Pale Moon would refuse to locate any domain. Would claim it was trying to resolve $domain_name and then would put up a not reachable panel. Usually, waiting a few minutes would shake loose whatever had gotten wedged, but not this time.
[15:37:12] <Bytram> otoh, My Win 7 Pro x64 PC had been up for 43 days, and PM for 7 days, with numerous hibernate/restores and network dis-/re-connects to different IP addresses (cell phone acting as a mi-fi), so prolly caught a corner case just right (umm, wrong)
[15:37:19] <Bytram> anyway, all seems okay now.

[18:55:03] <FatPhil> I have so little time to read stories nowadays, I tend to just read the headlines.
[18:55:20] <FatPhil> I'm wondering if I should just do a dupe sweep every morning?
[18:57:22] <chromas> Can if you want. I also don't read it much. Got boring
[19:00:43] <FatPhil> THe world got boring - it became fixated on just a few bits of abject bogosity, and we're now stuck in a feedback loop.
