[00:32:49] <NotAnymore> ^ 03Musk's SpaceX rocket launch canceled at final countdown | NewsDaily
[00:40:11] <takyon> another day, another cancel
[00:40:39] <Bytram> that, I believe, was a report on yesterday's cancelation
[00:43:48] <Bytram> apple awa story psoted; just needs a 2nd
[00:43:54] <Bytram> takyon++
[00:43:54] <Bender> karma - takyon: 21
[00:44:04] <takyon> k
[00:44:07] <takyon> i'll try to sub more
[00:44:29] <Bytram> I'm looking around, myself
[00:44:31] <takyon> Delete "Detroit Woman Injured, Humiliated after Security Guard Mistook Her for a Man "?
[00:46:30] <Bytram> nod nod
[00:54:25] <cmn32480> yep
[00:56:39] <takyon> who wants to volunteer to type the deletion reason ;)
[01:01:59] <TheMightyBuzzard> "The Patriarchy"
[01:03:04] * Bytram hasn't even read that story... title was not, umm, appealing. will read it now
[01:05:47] * Bytram ponders
[01:08:48] <Bytram> maybe we should run the story? Add an editor's note indicating we were undecided as to whether the community would be interested in this story... please reply in the comments whether or not this story, and ones like it, would be of interest to you.
[01:09:00] <Bytram> IOW, let the community decide for us.
[01:10:12] <Bytram> I'll go ahead and run it with above proviso.
[01:13:50] <paulej72> ok please check out automagic xtended copy test on dev please
[01:16:47] <Bytram> paulej72: what does it do?
[01:17:38] <paulej72> show the extended copy when you click more. the more is auto palced so eds dont have to add the more after break
[01:21:06] <Bytram> nice!
[01:21:40] <Bytram> I'd been thinking of how that could be done. One of the things I stumbled on was how to handle the e-mails of the day's stories; need to handle that case, too.
[01:22:20] <Bytram> also, while we are at it, I would prefer that, instead of seeing "456 words in story", it would be preferable to see "124 more words in story"
[01:27:09] <Bytram> takyon: cmn32480 CoolHand anyone have any objections to my running that story, with the addition of that editor's note?
[01:28:16] <paulej72> why don't we just get rid of the x words in story thing
[01:29:06] <Bytram> because it gives me a clue as to whether there are 100 more words or, in the case of an NC wall-of-text, there may be 8k more words.
[01:29:34] <cmn32480> theory is relatively sound bytram
[01:29:36] <cmn32480> try it
[01:29:45] <Bytram> thanks!
[01:29:48] <Bytram> others?
[01:45:20] <takyon> what's going on
[01:45:40] <takyon> the x words in story is a visual cue
[01:45:53] <takyon> [continues] is theoretically unnecessary because of it
[01:52:01] <Bytram> a while back, there was a well written comment htat the 'n words in story' indicator failed to indicate there were MORE words; it gave the appearance that it was just noting how many words were in the story. they made a good cast for the phrasing to be changed.
[01:52:34] <Bytram> the inserted [Continues] removes all doubt
[01:55:16] <Bytram> okay, I finished with the story submission: "Detroit Woman Injured, Humiliated after Security Guard Mistook Her for a Man"
[01:55:41] <Bytram> definitely would like someone to 2nd it; especially take a look at the 'Ed note'
[01:57:09] <Bytram> break time; biab
[02:04:44] <Bytram> back
[02:07:57] <Bytram> whereto? https://t.co
[02:07:57] <NotAnymore> ^ 03( https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com )
[02:17:27] <takyon> wow you ran the story
[02:17:56] <takyon> yikes
[02:18:02] <Bytram> yep; decided that Ouija boards and casting lots wasn't working... might as well ask the community.
[02:18:10] <takyon> well w/e
[02:18:23] * cmn32480 has (thankfully) never seen Bytram's balls... but they must be huge
[02:18:30] <cmn32480> nograb
[02:20:17] <Bytram> I looked in the wiki and could not find anything that explicity precluded it, and got the gist that is was within the general purview of the site. it is my hope that phrasing it as I did in the 'Editor's Note' will make it clear that it was unclear.
[02:20:56] <Bytram> and, if the community response is against more of this kind of story (which I suspect it will be), that will provide the answer for any future submissions.
[02:21:10] <Bytram> 'The community has spoken'
[02:28:03] * Bytram has never been to a disney park... do they run the rides 24/7? or only during 'normal' daytime/evening hours?
[02:28:24] <cmn32480> normal business hours
[02:28:40] <takyon> funny you should mention that
[02:28:44] <cmn32480> depending on the aprk adn the day, it will be anywhere from 8am to midnight
[02:28:49] <takyon> the story I'm about to sub has a disney mention
[02:29:21] <Bytram> I'm on the disney surge pricing story
[02:30:13] <Bytram> saved. scheduled for 0917 tomorrow
[02:30:34] <takyon> mine is about clear channel billboards that spy on nearby phones

[02:53:58] <Bytram> nice
[02:54:27] <takyon> it was that "as in case of San Bernardino"
[02:54:32] <takyon> thought it sounded awkward
[02:54:37] <Bytram> agreed
[02:58:57] <Bytram> clear channel billboards story -- dept: 'Hello Mister Anderton' OR 'Hello Mister Yukkamoto' ??

[15:26:38] <Bytram> agreed, with a healthy dose of there being some who do not want it at all... and with caveat, it seems that if we were to run such stories, it should focus not so much on the (for lack of better terminology) 'soft' feely side of things and more towards ideas such as genetics and how those are expressed.
[15:27:21] <Bytram> better still, this is something that if we were to run these kinds of stories, it would be ideal to have a nexus for such things.
