[19:58:00] <BlackHole> i was just thinking, now that we are incorporated and will hopefully soon have some subscription revenue, perhaps it would be a good idea to commission articles somehow.

[19:58:59] <BlackHole> there are a lot of great freelance technical writers out there, who I am sure would be happy to write good pieces for a pittance.
[19:59:57] <janrinok> We have a small group looking at this (and other) ideas and I'll flag up this conversation to make sure that they read it.
[20:00:00] <BlackHole> perhaps we could set up a slashbox on the right or left side for full-length articles, since they will be fewer and farther between, so that they don't get bumped off the front page too quickly.

[20:01:10] <BlackHole> then, we could pay the authors on a tiered scale based on number of at-least +3 -rated comments generated, say USD 20 if you reach 20 comments, all the way up to USD 50 if you break the 50-comment threshold.

[20:02:07] <janrinok> The problem there is you can end up with 'comment stuffing' if you understand my misuse of the language!
