[07:59:27] <soylentil123> OK, who has shadow-banned my old IP?  Not cool, bros!   Why you so afraid of what I might say?
[08:01:19] <janrinok> You are banned - not your IP

[08:02:32] <soylentil123> Show me the official documents banning soylentil123!  You lie, again!   And, you shadow-banned me, so you had deniable plausibility, and jettisoned responsibility.

[09:12:19] <janrinok> morning Ingar - too much cloud recently?
[09:13:28] <Ingar> janrinok: no just some background on soylentil123's quote :D

[09:17:51] <janrinok> Ah, it makes sense now. He has often used that phrase 'Can't stop the signal, Mal' but I have never bothered to find out its origin.
[09:18:44] <Ingar> janrinok: if you haven't seen Firefly and like scifi, I really recommend it
[09:19:09] <Ingar> (watch the series first, movie is placed after it)
[09:19:22] <janrinok> I will look out for it but I do not watch much TV in general or films in particular.
[09:20:42] <janrinok> But he has compromised a quite a few IP addys this morning alone :)
[09:20:48] <Ingar> it's reasonably lighthearted and digests well, but there is enough under the hood to make it interesting and though-provocing at some points
[09:23:06] <Ingar> even the 'cifi' part can be argued, it's more of a western set in space
[09:23:13] <Ingar> *'scifi'
[09:47:05] <Ingar> The war was devastating, but soylent's victory over the trolls ensured a safer universe. And now, everyone can enjoy the comfort and enlightenment of true civilazation.
[09:47:39] <Ingar> I'm surprised mr Eddington isn't calling you Javert yet.

[13:59:59] <chromas2> "I work part-time at a small hardware store. A guy came in today and bought a breaker for his breaker box... He came back later and bought a light switch... He came back later and then asked me what else could be the problem of his light not coming on. I asked if he tried to change the bulb. He bought a bulb and didn't come back after that. There's a reason tech support tells you to "turn it off and on again" as well as asking if the PC
[13:59:59] <chromas2> is plugged in."
[14:00:41] <fab23> :)
[14:04:39] <fab23> chromas2: I have a small table lamp with a halogen bulb, worked for more then 10 years and did not turn on one evening, first I checked if it is plugged in properly until I checked the bulb.
[14:08:11] <Ingar> I once (by phone) made a lady crawl under the table to check the cables. I was like "I know it it silly but if I have to send a technician and the cable isn't plugged in I will charge you through the nose".
[14:08:18] <Ingar> she fixed it :D
[14:08:42] <fab23> :)
[14:08:55] <Ingar> and she was grateful because she called me and without 5 minutes everything was good
[14:09:02] <Ingar> *within 5 minutes
[14:10:10] <fab23> oh crap, G4 bulbs are now LED, not sure if they fit into the lamp :(
[14:10:54] <Ingar> I never make fun of such basic things, if the client is willing to actually check them. I always tell them it's ok because they just made my job very easy.
[14:11:22] <Ingar> fab23: all lightbulbs are LED now, it's terrible
[14:13:00] <fab23> I had to replace a GU 5.3 bulbs just recently, LED of course, the first was flickering when I inserted it, switched the socket with the other one and was ok, but lastet only 3 week, then I put the second one in, did also flicker a little bit and was dead after 2 hours. So much for saving energy with that crap.
[14:13:43] <fab23> Ingar: even FL tubes, and depending on the socket / lamp, you may replace them as well :(
[14:17:20] <Ingar> fab23: yeah, we replaced a bunch here last year
[14:17:54] <Ingar> the LEDS are more brighter, but the FL tubes give that nice 'floodlight' I'm missing from LED
[14:19:35] <fab23> I have them only in the bathroom. Not sure what is in the kitchen above the sink, may also be one, I don't remember if that ever has failed.
[14:21:01] <fab23> hm, it seems that non-LED FL tubes are still available here, may get some spare parts :)
[14:29:49] <chromas2> Weird seeing people actually prefer cfls
[14:33:40] <janrinok> fab23, I have changed or I am in the process of changing every light in my home to LED. IMO they are far superior and cheaper to run.
[14:38:26] <fab23> janrinok: I also try to change if possible, early LED had a very bad color tone (don't know proper english word, but e.g. colored things looked ugly with them), but looks better now. One of the GU5.3 is already a LED (Philips), but the two new I just bought and burned were Osram, may have been just a bad badge, but that does fail the eco balance horribly
[14:39:02] <janrinok> 'bad colour tone' is fine
[14:39:31] <fab23> thx :)
