[18:31:50] <janrinok> Bytram, !!
[18:32:12] <Bytram> janrinok: !!
[18:32:17] <Bytram> how u b?
[18:32:46] <janrinok> TIRED! Significant changes in S's care are keeping me busy

[18:33:18] <Bytram> {{{{{ S }}}}}
[18:33:36] <janrinok> thx - and S sends you the same! .. . but you just beat me to it!
[18:33:49] <Bytram> and the beat goes on!
[18:34:06] <Bytram> could be a song or sumthin
[18:34:13] <janrinok> lol
[18:36:17] <janrinok> How's things at your end?
[18:37:04] <Bytram> Noticed we had a surprising number of comments yesterday, even with reduced number of stories
[18:37:31] <janrinok> I haven't looked yet - any reason that you can identify?
[18:37:45] <Bytram> okay, a little tired, too. Think it mostly is just the extended covid cocooning and the still-shortening days
[18:37:57] <Bytram> we picked good stories!!!!
[18:38:06] <Bytram> j/k
[18:38:36] <janrinok> you might be correct...
[18:38:55] <Bytram> not yet, but it bodes well for the future... may be able to reduce story cadence to something more manageable for ediorial staff
[18:44:12] <Bytram> We're averaging about 11 or so stories a day atm (IIRC). Don't see how this is sustainable with current editorial staffing. Fnord has been carrying the lion's share lately, I try to keep up, and thankfully chromas fills in, too. Unless something changes, I foresee a need to cut back another story or two per day. I do not like the trajectory, but I do not see any way around it.
[18:45:28] <janrinok> Understand, but I don't see my situation changing in the near future, well not in a good positive way.
[18:46:17] <Bytram> nod nod; no offense intended! First things first and that means taking care of S and you!
[18:47:15] <janrinok> no offence taken! It is simply a statement of the current situation. Each time S has to go to hospital there is additional damage caused internally.
[18:49:13] <janrinok> or more correctly, each time it is necessary for S to go to hospital it is because there has been additional damage caused that needs addressing.
[18:51:25] <Bytram> Sad news to hear. Truly! I wish there were something more I could do besides sit on the sidelines here and offer support!
[18:55:22] <janrinok> Nothing that anyone can do - it is simply something for which there is currently no medical answer.
[18:55:39] <janrinok> but thanks for the thought
[18:56:00] <Bytram> still doesn't make it any easier.
[18:56:11] <janrinok> it does for me
[18:57:50] <Bytram> it's times like these that the *important* things in life stand out. All the other squabbling I see around me tends to fall out of focus and I am reminded of what is truly important. Friends. Helping others. Maybe even leaving a legacy for others to aspire to!
[18:58:43] <Bytram> You certainly have left some rather large-sized shoes for me to try and fill!
[18:59:04] <Bytram> (And, no, not sized for a clown!)
[18:59:24] <Bytram> (Though I seem to wear them well on occasion, too!)
[19:00:16] <janrinok> nah, you are doing a great job, just sorry that I can't contribute as much as I would like to. I have no problems with the current team - however small it is becoming

[19:19:21] <systemd> https://en.wikipedia.org(unit) - Fifth (unit) - Wikipedia
[19:20:12] <Bytram> A fifth is a unit of volume formerly used for wine and distilled beverages in the United States, equal to one fifth of a US liquid gallon, 4⁄5 quart, or 25 3⁄5 US fluid ounces (757 ml); it has been superseded by the metric bottle size of 750 mL,[1] sometimes called a metric fifth, which is the standard capacity of wine bottles worldwide and is approximately 1% smaller.
[19:20:37] <janrinok> the metric bottle size of 750 mL,[1] sometimes called a metric fifth,
[19:20:47] <janrinok> ah, we found the same source
[19:22:01] <Bytram> In the late 19th century, ... one-fifth of a gallon was a common legal threshold for the difference between selling by the drink and selling by the bottle or at wholesale,[5][6][7] and thus the difference between a drinking saloon or barroom and a dry-goods store.
