[00:01:46] <Bytram> Subsentient: So, though things are going okay, for the moment, anything you can do to push out a story would still be very helpful and much appreciated.
[00:02:05] <Subsentient> Bytram: Okay, will do
[00:02:26] <Bytram> or, take a look in #rss-bot for someting that looks interesting and sub a story. that is always appeciated.
[00:03:13] <Bytram> Subsentient: chromas has a handy web page that makes some things much easier: https://zeroindex.org

[00:03:28] <Subsentient> Bytram: ooh, thanks!
[00:05:24] <Bytram> Soesn't always work (the web is inconsistent), but there are 3 different scraping tools behind the scenes. It defaults to "upstart" (aka systemd, here) but can also try "storybot" which did parsing for exec, as well as "newscat" -- I try them in that order.
[00:08:16] <Bytram> after a while, I learn which sites work best with which scraper. E.g. TheVerge only gives up a single paragraph to "upstart" but does quite well with "storybot". The BBC has been somewhat torublesome, of late. Simple approach: try it. If at all unsure, open the page by itself in a browser tab and compare that to what the bots come up with. :D

[03:05:42] <Bytram> chromas: ^^^ FYI: look at the href it constructed and how I even gave it a "cleaned" URL to start with. Not complaining, just found it to be... curious. Thought you might, too.
