[02:13:46] <Bytram> Fnord666: !!
[02:14:05] <Fnord666> Thanks so much for filling the story queue!! You're a wild man this weekend!
[02:14:14] <Fnord666> Bytram++
[02:14:14] <Bender> karma - bytram: 105
[02:14:27] <Bytram> appreciate the complement...
[02:14:40] <Fnord666> I went to check on it for this overnight and here you've knocked it out of the park.
[02:14:50] <Bytram> atm, though, I think I'm more a tired man this weekend
[02:15:12] <Fnord666> :)
[02:15:23] <Fnord666> I was going to ask how you're doing
[02:16:02] <Bytram> did stop this PM to make time to watch Die Hard (had a bluray) -- had forgotten how good it was!
[02:16:33] <Fnord666> Nice and it's snot even Christmas!
[02:17:04] <Bytram> Was surprised at how well I picked up what the villains were saying in German!

[02:17:43] <Fnord666> A language I have not studied yet.
[02:18:02] <Fnord666> I know just enough to get my face slapped
[02:18:15] <Fnord666> from my time in the service over there.
[02:18:56] * Bytram was told it was the language of science when I was in high school... studied for 3 years. I guess a bunch has still stuck with me!
[02:19:17] <Bytram> thanks for your service to our country
[02:19:52] <Bytram> just heard some thunder.
[02:20:08] <Bytram> they were prediction t-storms for tonight.
[02:20:12] <Fnord666> Thank you for the recognition. I was actually stationed in Italy but we spent most of our time training in West Germany.
[02:20:29] <Fnord666> It was quite warm here today
[02:20:53] <Bytram> I don't think it even reached 70 here
[02:21:23] <Fnord666> In the 90's here
[02:21:42] <Bytram> I got to spend a week in Milan on business in the late 90's
[02:21:43] <Fnord666> Same highs for the next efew days, then storms
[02:21:49] <Fnord666> NIce!
[02:22:09] <Bytram> and twice spent a week in Germany that same year
[02:22:52] <Bytram> though a bit rusty, I could carry on a casual conversation. =)
[02:22:53] <Fnord666> I was stationed in Vicenza which is east of Milan, most of the way to Venice.
[02:23:14] <Fnord666> halfway between Verona and Padua
[02:23:20] <Bytram> nod not
[02:23:27] <Bytram> nod nod
[02:23:42] <Bytram> yeah, I guess I *am* tired.
[02:24:08] <Bytram> would love to stay and chat, but if you don't mind, I'll need to take a raid check
[02:24:16] <Fnord666> RAID!
[02:24:25] <Fnord666> no problem.
[02:24:30] * Bytram looks out the window; only sprinkles atm!
[02:24:34] <Bytram> ;)
[02:24:43] <Fnord666> I myself have work tomorrow and need to be up earlier than the last few days
[02:25:02] <Fnord666> I'll toss a few more stories into the queue before heading out
[02:25:10] <Bytram> sleep fast, then, my friend!
[02:25:23] <Bytram> grazi!
[02:25:32] <Fnord666> prego
[02:25:33] <Bytram> ciao for now
[02:25:36] <Fnord666> ciao
[02:25:40] <Fnord666> and pleasant dreams
[02:25:51] <Bytram> a river and a ditch!

[12:02:11] <janrinok> You have a bug report for me?
[12:02:18] * chromas puts a twink in the code
[12:02:47] <chromas> Oh yeah, I've seen some string buggering the last few times I ran my old copy of StoryBot5
[12:03:21] <janrinok> ? that seems a bit vague to be going bug hunting for.....
[12:03:33] <chromas> Multibyte UTF-8s get converted to two or three characters
[12:03:51] <chromas> I should check my histories for an example
[12:05:20] <janrinok> all Python3 internal is in UTF-8 nowadays, so I'm not sure what you are seeing. The only problem is when a page claims it in a format which it clearly isn't. The software has to make several tests and then come up with a best guess.
[12:06:19] <janrinok> But I haven't seen any problems on that personally, so perhaps you have been looking at sites that I do not look at very often

[12:08:16] <chromas> I've also run it directly on the command line to be sure it wasn't my phpoo script borking it
[12:15:34] <janrinok> I can see what you mean but have you seen the raw content? I'm surprised that storybot got anything from that. Whatever happened to HTML? As it doesn't happen on every story it doesn't appear to be a normal processing error but a logic error somewhere. I'll have to see if I can reproduce that bug.
[12:16:28] <chromas> Yeah, my bot didn't even get anything, which is why I went to yours :D
