[00:13:40] <Bytram> AzumaHazuki: o/
[00:13:46] <AzumaHazuki> o/
[00:13:46] <Bytram> how ya holding up?
[00:13:58] <AzumaHazuki> more or less okay. glad this seven days in a row is over
[00:14:05] <Bytram> yay!
[00:14:09] <AzumaHazuki> going up to buffalo tomorrow to put down the deposit
[00:14:17] <Bytram> nod nod
[00:14:22] <Bytram> safe trip!
[00:14:53] <Bytram> AzumaHazuki: any further word on the job front?
[00:15:17] <AzumaHazuki> still waiting for corporate to get the lead out @_@ but they said i should be hearing from them "soon"
[00:15:44] <Bytram> RSN? Yep, I've heard of it.
[00:17:12] <Bytram> fwiw, I at first read "lead" as sounding like "leed", so you were waiting for them to get *out* of the lead. ??
[00:17:18] <Bytram> homographs--
[00:17:18] <Bender> karma - homographs: -1
[00:29:43] <Bytram> whereto? http://feedproxy.google.com
[00:29:46] <systemd> ^ 03NASA engineers just busted a hole in their next-gen rocket tank, but that's a good thing ( https://www.cnet.com )
[01:37:06] <AzumaHazuki> something awful happened to me D: Mike Hudson says I'm not real. I vanished in a puff of logic
[01:37:14] <AzumaHazuki> i don't exist now. sadface.gif
[01:37:38] <chromas> You don't exist on disk; only ram. Don't reboot yet
[01:42:57] <Bytram> whereto? http://feedproxy.google.com
[01:42:59] <systemd> ^ 03SpaceX Starlink launch: How to watch record-chasing launch on Friday ( https://www.cnet.com )
[01:43:04] * AzumaHazuki runs exploit to get local root, then issues a sync command
[01:43:20] <Bytram> sync or swim?
[02:34:47] <chromas> swim rsync
[02:41:07] <Fnord666> Bytram !!
[02:41:50] <Bytram> Fnord666: ||
[02:42:01] <Fnord666> How is ya?
[02:42:25] * Bytram is procrastinating on writing a "we need moneys" story.
[02:42:41] <Fnord666> ugh
[02:42:47] <Bytram> how was the movie last night?
[02:42:59] <Fnord666> Terrible
[02:43:07] <Bytram> :(
[02:43:12] <chromas> "Due to COVID, our cougher is almost empty"
[02:43:15] <Bytram> how was the company?
[02:43:23] <Fnord666> That was a+
[02:43:29] <Bytram> :: groan ::
[02:43:47] <Fnord666> We were rolling our eyes in sync most of the movie
[02:44:04] <Bytram> just on the off chance... have you seen The Princess Bride?
[02:44:48] <Fnord666> I have but it's been a while
[02:44:54] <Bytram> is like 25 years old now, but is a classic. Found out recently a good friend of mine had never seen it!
[02:45:05] <Bytram> That word, you keep using it...
[02:45:20] <Bytram> so many memes came from that movie!
[02:45:45] <Fnord666> yup
[02:46:40] <Bytram> Hmm, come to think of it, *I* haven't seen it in a long while, either!
[02:47:01] <Fnord666> Sounds like time to watch it again.
[02:48:10] <Fnord666> Some films aren't worth watching, some are worth watching once, and some bear rewatching over and over.
[02:48:39] <Bytram> nod nod
[02:52:25] <Fnord666> I like the use of the "mobile" topic for the automated driving regulation story.
[02:52:44] <Bytram> problem is, I have a very good memory (so I'm mentally skipping ahead to up-coming scenes in my head) while watching what's playing atm. Also, I struggle mightily when there are... "continuity breaks". Woman jumps into a pool, swims around for a little bit, gets out of the pool, and a moment later has perfectly dry hair... I cannot not see those kinds of things. Drives me nuts!
[02:53:03] * Bytram didn't notice.
[02:54:52] <Fnord666> I am fortunate enough not to notice those things unless they're glaringly obvious.
[02:55:17] <Fnord666> Like scars shifting from cheek to cheek or somesuch
[02:55:33] <Bytram> whoops!
[02:56:14] <Fnord666> Or license plates changing on vehicles during a scene. To a different color!
[02:57:08] <Fnord666> Spelling and grammar in print however...
[02:57:10] <Bytram> stop! I never noticed that before
[02:57:31] <Bytram> Last thing I need is ever MORE distractions!
[02:57:33] <Fnord666> Lol. Now you'll be looking for it everywhere. Sorry!
[02:58:06] <Bytram> Do you know what "Timing Dots" are for movies?
[02:58:54] <Fnord666> I do!
[02:59:17] <Bytram> usually in the upper right hand corner of a movie. Can't NOT see them once I knew they were there.
[02:59:19] <Fnord666> Do you know what movie explained them to viewers?
[02:59:38] * Bytram ran projectors in college
[02:59:40] <Bytram> nope
[02:59:45] <Fnord666> Fight Club
[02:59:54] <Bytram> never saw it
[03:00:27] <Fnord666> Those timing marks should be a thing of the past though these days I would think.
[03:00:53] <Bytram> mostly, but older movies still have 'em.
[03:01:12] <Fnord666> I wonder if they edit those out when they digitize a film.
[03:01:34] <Bytram> do not need 'e, for digital prints/projectors
[03:02:26] <Bytram> only if they were working from a working copy and not an original master copy
[03:02:40] <Fnord666> Fair point
[03:03:37] <Bytram> back in a few minutes.
[03:03:40] <Bytram> afk
[03:04:10] <Fnord666> k
[03:13:16] <Bytram> Think I'll make a bite to eat and call it a night. Was able to lob a couple stories into the subs queue... BTW, have you noticed that chromas has been stepping things up lately? I've see story subs from him and he'll push a story out too on occasion!
[03:13:20] <Bytram> chromas++
[03:13:21] <Bender> karma - chromas: 153
[03:13:43] <Fnord666> I have!
[03:13:59] <Fnord666> Definitely appreciated.
[03:14:07] <Fnord666> chromas++ indeed
[03:14:07] <Bender> karma - chromas: 154
[03:14:57] <Bytram> A truism frm *many* years ago: "Nothing so encourages a worker than for them to see their manager put in a full day's work."
[03:15:59] <Bytram> I'd like to think we set a good example, but it can be hard to know for sure!
[03:16:59] <Bytram> any whey, thyme two wheat
[03:17:17] <Bytram> ;)
[03:17:26] <Bytram> have a good night!
[03:18:52] <Fnord666> You too. Pleasant dreams.
[04:22:01] <chromas> Ah, yes, the plan is working
[04:22:10] * chromas rubs hands together like a certain stereotype
[04:22:23] <chromas> Do nothing for a bit, then reap the praise :D
[05:04:50] <chromas> Looks like both upstart and StoryBot5 get tricked into no stories by consumerreports.org
[05:05:05] * chromas blames janrinok :)
