[13:38:45] * Bytram inserts a spacex launch story and moves a story later in the queue
[13:39:19] <Bytram> the mission scheduled for yesterday was scrubbed due to high-altitude winds; rescheduled for today.
[13:45:48] <janrinok> ~gday Bytram
[13:46:24] <janrinok> washing, ironing and chores day again?
[13:46:30] <Bytram> ~gday janrinok
[13:46:56] <Bytram> yep, and a bunch of other too-long-postponed errands
[13:47:18] <janrinok> I've had a pretty hectic couple of days, but S is now back in the care home and I am on day 1 of 13 days of rest
[13:47:51] * Bytram wishes there was an exec2 bot that could just restart exec, and only allowed to select users, for safety/sanity sake.
[13:47:57] <Bytram> yay!!!!!!!!!!!!
[13:48:08] <janrinok> I'll contribute where I can but I really do have to recuperate before Christmas.
[13:48:19] <Bytram> Please DO!
[13:48:59] <janrinok> although we did manage to keep the queues full for TG and BF - so I am quite pleased about that
[13:49:12] <Bytram> I was absolutely spent last night when I got home from work. Tried nearly a dozen times but could only push out one story. Gave up and went to bed. Thankfully Fnord666 filled in until morning!
[13:49:37] <Bytram> yes, you did a heck of a job!
[13:49:45] <janrinok> yep, he is doing a good job too
[13:50:00] <janrinok> how's your recovery going?
[13:50:04] <Bytram> If I am not mistaken, we were treated with TWO day-of-janrinok posts
[13:50:33] <janrinok> not all up to our usual standard but they were better than nothing
[13:50:40] <Bytram> still a bit funky with left hand, but could also be accumulated tightness in muscles. Dr appt monday AM.
[13:50:54] <Bytram> more than good enough!
[13:51:50] <Bytram> Full disclosure: ' made an executive decision this AM. Submitted and posted my own story about the rescheduled SpaceX launch.
[13:51:55] <Bytram> s/'/I/
[13:52:00] <Bytram> no bot
[13:52:06] <janrinok> I've had nurses and physios telling me I look exhausted and should plan to do nothing over the next week or more.
[13:52:25] <janrinok> We've all had to push out the odd story that we also subbed at some time or other
[13:52:29] <Bytram> is *this* doing nothing?
[13:52:38] <Bytram> I'm serious.
[13:52:54] <Bytram> YOU are more important than keeping the story queue stuffed on this site.
[13:52:55] <janrinok> This is sat down with no other pressure - this is fine
[13:53:24] <Bytram> If need be, we can cut back on pacing or take some other measured.
[13:53:27] <janrinok> if I wasn't on here I would be programming or sleeping - and I'm planning to do a bit of both
[13:53:53] <Bytram> If need be, I am prepared to revoke your editor privs for two weeks.
[13:54:05] <Bytram> sleep++
[13:54:05] <Bender> karma - sleep: 17
[13:54:13] <janrinok> lol - thanks for the kind though, Mr Kettle
[13:54:19] <janrinok> thought*
[13:54:21] <Bytram> Two Shay!
[13:54:31] <Bytram> *laughter*
[13:54:44] <janrinok> or, as I noted you said the other day - au renoir. That was a masterpiece!
[13:54:53] <Bytram> Mare see!
[13:55:18] <Bytram> Oh. Grooooooan! I *just* now got it! Good one!
[13:55:50] <janrinok> hey, that was your comment when you left this channel the other day!
[13:56:01] <Bytram> Groundhog Day
[13:56:16] <Bytram> No, "Masterpiece"
[13:56:25] <Bytram> *you* comment!
[13:56:30] <Bytram> *your* comment!
[13:57:05] <janrinok> ok, I think we are getting back in sync now
[13:57:06] <Bytram> Renoir as renowned as a painter because of the masterpieces he painted.
[13:57:11] <Bytram> Renoir was renowned as a painter because of the masterpieces he painted.
[13:57:43] <Bytram> I'm not sure if that was a meta-double-Entendre or what you'd call it?
[13:58:30] <janrinok> that sounds like a remarkably well made up description
[13:58:59] <Bytram> tx!
[13:58:59] <janrinok> I was quite pleased with it a few days back...
[13:59:05] <Bytram> hth!
[13:59:44] <Bytram> of course, *NOW* Ars Technica finally posts its updated story about SpaceX's relaunch attempt today.

[14:00:39] <janrinok> Major strike action here in France. No fuel available unless you work for the emergency or health services. I have saved enough fuel to bring S back home in a few weeks time but until then I have to walk to the shops using a rucksack
[14:01:03] <Bytram> Doh!
[14:01:16] <janrinok> I managed to do a lot of shopping last week so there isn't much that I need to buy at present
[14:01:32] <Bytram> I knew about the strike. I knew you were in France. Somehow did not put them both together.
[14:01:37] <Bytram> Good!
[14:02:01] <Bytram> Is there a planned duration for the strike?
[14:02:23] <janrinok> road are almost empty, ATC on strike too, major demonstrations in all the big cities. but the farmers have told everyone that if they do not continue to work there will be no food in the shops when the strike ends
[14:02:45] <carny> wow i didn't know it was that serious in france
[14:03:06] <Bytram> same here!
[14:03:10] <carny> is this going to trigger new elections?
[14:03:21] <janrinok> There is no end forecast - People are annoyed that the govt are raising the retirement age despite existing agreements and are also cutting pensions for those about to retire in the near future.
[14:04:16] <Bytram> that does not sound good at all.
[14:04:28] <Bytram> IIRC, you do have a garden, so that should help a lot.
[14:04:41] <carny> in december? ;]
[14:04:57] <janrinok> It is all supported by the gilet jaune group that started protesting last year and are still going strong. People are being told that they will have to continue to work for another 5 - 7 years past their normal retirement age and the pensions will be cut significantly. No-one knows how this will develop
[14:04:58] <Bytram> #weather france

Fri: "Possible drizzle in the evening." 48/44F, Humidity: 86%, Precip: 44%, Wind ~10mph. Sat: "Overcast throughout the day." 51/46F, Humidity: 93%, Precip: 42%, Wind ~10mph.
[14:05:15] <Bytram> huh. t worked!
[14:05:19] <Bytram> huh. It worked!
[14:06:10] <janrinok> cold, crisp and sunny day here. I've had a bit of exercise in the garden but not too much to do at this time of the year. Too late to be planting anything new though
[14:06:38] <janrinok> brb
[14:07:38] <Bytram> nod nod re: new plantings. How are you set for remaining crops that remain to be harvested? One year our family left the beets and carrots in the ground over-winter. When we needed some, we'd go out with a pitchfork and pry them out of the frozen ground.
[14:08:25] <Bytram> Would have been easier, in the long run, to harvest when they were ready, but it was interesting to discover we could do that.
[14:09:03] <Bytram> IIRC, we had an abnormally early freeze and some other things going on that precluded the usual autumn harvest.
[14:09:45] <Bytram> and I need a break, atm, too. Expecting a phone call. could be 15 minutes, could be an hour.
[14:09:48] <Bytram> laters!
[14:23:45] <janrinok> Bytram, S sends you her love and she hopes that your recovery goes well!
[15:34:37] <Bytram> janrinok: Thank You!
[15:45:33] <janrinok> you're welcome!
[17:47:11] <janrinok> Nimrod22740!
[17:47:16] <janrinok> okops
[17:47:20] <janrinok> ooops
[17:48:01] <janrinok> well, that would have unlocked my phone!
[17:51:45] <chromas> But now you changed it :(
[17:52:01] <janrinok> nah, if you get your hands on my phone it's too late anyway
