[01:47:34] <chromas> That paragraph counter done broke
[01:53:51] <Bytram> chromas: not following you there.
[01:54:54] <chromas> When it says the submission succeeded, it's supposed to show the number of paragraphs. Actually, that should be on the first message. Anyhow, it mostly shows 0
[01:55:17] <Bytram> oh, I don't recall ever seeing that displayed.
[01:55:44] <chromas> Just added it thi smorning, along with the redirected url notice, which also doesn't work
[01:56:05] <Bytram> progress!
[01:57:59] <chromas> It's easy enough to add features. The hard part is adding non-features
[01:58:19] <Bytram> au contraire! It seems you have that down pat! ;)
[01:59:10] <chromas> oh, bee tea double-ewe, I never got the email you mentioned went to editors@. Not sure if I'm not on the list or if it didn't got out
[01:59:55] <Bytram> hrrrm
[02:00:19] * chromas and editored that last comments
[02:00:23] <Bytram> is why I mentioned it, here, as a bit of a double check on the mailing list. your nick, here, at sn, right?
[02:01:06] <chromas> Yeah. Only thing I've seen recently is Stories summary, the money begging and the occasional spam
[02:01:43] <chromas> So really, all the things I don't want :)
[02:02:31] <Bytram> yeah, I spent a couple days several months ago going through our wiki and removing all direct email-able links and replaced 'em with list (@) soylentnews (dot) com or something along those lines
[02:02:36] <Bytram> really cut down on the spam
[02:02:43] <chromas> Just got a Stories for one now. Nothing else
[02:02:49] <chromas> "Stories for..."
[02:03:05] <Bytram> check your settings on the site, there's a bunch more you can request.
[02:03:19] * Bytram does not want chromas to feel lonely
[02:03:42] <chromas> They're turned off. I see I'm getting them because I'm on the admin@ list
[02:04:07] <chromas> Maybe I'm not on editors@. Is there a way to check?
[02:04:56] <chromas> Plus if I want to see what's on SN, I can look at the rss feed :D
[02:05:31] <Bytram> The way to check... is what I just did!
[02:05:55] <Bytram> There is supposed to be a gateway where I could examine the list, but it is not working atm
[02:06:06] <Bytram> forwarded email is on its way
[02:06:15] <chromas> RXed
[02:06:21] <Bytram> yay!
[02:07:08] <chromas> Do you know what kind of limits are on the mail system? Like storage quota and whatnot
[02:07:13] * chromas should delete the old stuff
[02:07:23] <chromas> Hm
[02:07:39] <chromas> For storage, quota is a maximum. For work, quota is a minumum
[02:07:51] <chromas> mimimum
[02:08:04] * Bytram has no idea how takyon does it. I pushed out 5 stories today, and made two subs, and am tired.
[02:08:11] <Bytram> nininun?
[02:08:21] <chromas> M&M
[02:08:27] <Bytram> is shorter so that makes it a nininum
[02:08:36] <Bytram> true story...
[02:08:40] <chromas> neganum
[02:09:10] <Bytram> grab a piece of paper and a pen or pencil, and then write out the word "minimum" -- in cursive writing. Let me know when you are done.
[02:09:23] <Bytram> meganum?
[02:09:27] <chromas> Never been able to find it, but I remember an April Fools' story in a ham magazine about Negahertz
[02:09:35] * chromas looks for writing utencil
[02:10:07] <chromas> I'll just use the drawing tablet and inkscape
[02:10:13] <Bytram> works
[02:12:46] <chromas> Looks like I have less than no penmanship
[02:12:49] <Bytram> Notice how much time that takes to do? So did a TA I had in college who pointed out that the word "minimum" would appear frequently during the rest of the semester. He invited us to do what I just invited you to do. The, he went up to the chalkboard, made two "humps" of a sine wave, put a dot over each hump, and ordained that for the rest of the course that would be how he would write the word "minimum".
[02:13:58] <chromas> Can you increase the frequency for the Is?
[02:14:46] <Bytram> just two humps saves having to do *all* the bumps from the Ms, Ns, and pointy parts from the Is.
[02:15:35] <Bytram> then, to make clear that it was not just some random squiggle or an actual [co]sine wave, the dots were added with a certain flourish.
[02:15:45] <Bytram> anyway, need to take a break
[02:16:44] <Bytram> if you have a moment, I would appreciate it if you could take a look at the sub queue and see if you could push a [few] story[ies]?
[02:17:17] <Bytram> afk; back shortly.
