[13:48:40] <NotSanguine> Hey all. Apparently, a post I made last night was duplicated (that's a weird one, as I'm sure I only clicked 'submit' once). As such, the second instance should be modded 'redundant'. However, someone modded the second post as 'spam'. I have the privs to reverse that, but I don't want to do so on my own posts.
[13:48:54] <NotSanguine> Or is okay for me to do so myself?
[13:50:04] <NotSanguine> oops, the post in question is https://soylentnews.org

[14:02:27] <NotSanguine> Or would I be justified in reversing the spam mod myself?

[16:46:01] <NotSanguine> Chromas, mrpg, bytram, takyon, cmn32480: Or maybe I don't have the privs to do so. :( Any assistance would be appreciated!
[16:52:59] <fyngyrz> I don't have privs, I think. I can see the mis-moderation, and who did it, but there's no mechanism exposed to me to change it other than to add a moderation of my own such as "underrated"
[16:54:18] <fyngyrz> I also agree (obviously, I guess) that it is a mis-moderation
[17:36:03] <NotSanguine> fyngyrz: I thought I could reverse it myself, but now I don't think so. I can add moderations (like you), but I don't believe I can reverse them. Perhaps TheMightyBuzzard or Takyon knows what to do.
[17:38:14] <NotSanguine> fyngyrz: And yes, I believe it was a mis-moderation, as the user in question hasn't done that before. As I said, a '-1 redundant' is definitely warranted and another helpful user has seen to that. :)
[17:40:36] <NotSanguine> fyngyrz: Regardless as to whether or not I have privs to do so, I would feel uncomfortable modifying moderations on my own posts -- while it's (in this case) appropriate, I think there's too much potential for abuse -- so I wouldn't modify my own posts under any circumstances I can think of at the moment.
[18:05:45] <cmn32480> I'm looking
[18:05:59] <cmn32480> BUt dno't reverse your own spam mods... it looks bad.
[18:06:38] <cmn32480> and you forgot that Baltimore has more murders per capita than any other place in the country
[18:06:50] <cmn32480> I ought to leave the spam mod just for that!
[18:08:39] <cmn32480> NotSanguine - you have been despamified
[18:32:18] <NotSanguine> cmn32480: Thank you! As for "Charm City," I didn't think anyone cared since this went off the air: https://www.imdb.com

[18:32:35] <cmn32480> The Wire
[18:32:55] <NotSanguine> cmn432480: Nope. Homicide: Life on The Streets
[18:32:57] <cmn32480> but you are corerect, unless you live near this shit hole, nobody cares
[18:33:02] <NotSanguine> I'm old :)
[18:34:28] <NotSanguine> I considered sending a message to the user who modded me spam, with the spam moderation guidelines, but since I was the recipient of the spam mod I thought it inappropriate -- just as reversing the spam mod would be.
[18:34:49] <cmn32480> i would generally agree.
[18:34:57] <cmn32480> he got unspammed. No ban
[18:35:11] <cmn32480> though he does have a habit of negative mods
[18:35:35] <NotSanguine> yes. I noticed that too. But spam is special. In a short bus kind of way. :)
[18:36:45] <NotSanguine> I don't think it was intentional in the sense that he wanted to screw me over with a spam mod. Either it was a mistake or he/she doesn't understand '-10 spam' and '-1 redundant'
[18:37:14] <NotSanguine> Either way, thanks again!. It's much appreciated!
[18:37:20] <cmn32480> any time.
[18:37:28] <cmn32480> what little I can do to help
[18:37:35] <cmn32480> I just don't get around much anymore.
[18:39:20] <NotSanguine> You're here now and that's what counts. You were always more active than I was as an editor/admin. Although I guess that's not saying a whole lot. :)
[18:40:59] <cmn32480> lol
[18:41:13] <cmn32480> you can count the number of stories I've dropped in the last year on your fingers and toes, I think
[18:50:41] <NotSanguine> You don't even need those for me. :( But good on you for doing anything!
[21:31:37] * Bytram reads scrollback
[21:31:46] <Bytram> looks like spam situation was handled
