[12:46:40] <Bytram> FatPhil: I hear ya! Some days, I can tell it is gonna be one of *those* days. I reset my expectations, focus my energies on the accumulated no-thinkums: purging spam from email folders, organizing files, cleaning my desk... that kind of stuff. It ends up being a productive day, and after a better night's sleep, I'm able to go at things with something closer to my usual gusto.

[12:59:10] <FatPhil> Weirdest thing about my sleep issues is that sometimes the *most* refreshed I feel is after the shortest of naps (literally 5-10 minute catnaps)

[13:01:26] <Bytram> Trick is to wake up during the right part of the sleep cycle. Being awoken in the middle of REM causes an extended period of disorientation for me. IIRC, when pilots take naps, they are limited to 39 minutes. So that when they wake, they are actually awake and can take action. Studies showed that more than that put them in a different phase of sleep that was disorineting.
