[02:22:40] <Fnord666> The only thing worse than pulling binaries from someone else's repo is when I see people do it without validating digital signatues or eve nhashes.

[02:24:46] <Fnord666> and with VMs you can emulate production correctly in a certification environment
[02:25:17] <Fnord666> I've seen too many environments short change non-prod and a difference bites them in the ass

[02:27:28] <TheMightyBuzzard> i think our dev box is identical to either of the web front-ends. good chance the db boxen are the same setup as well.
[02:28:03] <TheMightyBuzzard> hardware-wise. software they're alike only in that they're built from the same source packages for the stuff we really, really care about.
