[00:35:00] <Fnord666> I really dislike spammer whack-a-mole
[00:37:26] <Fnord666> And howdy #editorial
[00:37:28] <Deucalion> Fnord666, no point playing that game when it's a veritable swarm like that. I'm tightening up the rules on the ircd and services, then I'll be dishing out some server ops privs
[00:37:40] <Fnord666> k
[00:38:04] <Fnord666> damn botnets anyway
[00:38:56] <Deucalion> Ehhh... welcome to IRC :) This incident was just someone having a laugh. Things used to be a whole lot worse a decade or so back :D
[00:41:32] <Fnord666> :)
[00:44:05] <Fnord666> Somehow I missed all that.
[00:48:17] <Deucalion> Wait... did I say just one decade ago? Uhhh it's coming on 2 decades. You'd have networks with many servers connected over flimsy links so the miscreants would flood a bunch of servers off the net and cause lots of net splits. That was always lots of fun :/
[00:48:51] <Deucalion> irc is pretty robust to such things ~if~ it's configured right :D
[01:05:23] <Fnord666> wasn't that one of the ways to get operator?
[01:17:10] <Deucalion> yup - create a net split then on a poorly configured now isolated server grab ops.... when the net split resolves it is possible to retain those ops for the the entire network. Things have moved on a long way though and the ircd's have protection against such things these days.... if configured right :D

[01:31:13] <MrPlow> https://www.youtube.com
[01:31:24] <charon_> ur spilleng kneads hellp
[01:33:19] <charon_> so how are things? did anyone perpetrate wild and uproarious pranks?
[01:35:16] <TheMightyBuzzard> took a screenshot of the roomie's boy's desktop, set it as wallpaper, turned off icons, set the taskbar to autohide, and reversed the mouse buttons.
[01:35:54] <charon_> reversing the buttons is the most devilish part
[01:35:55] <chromas> Was he confused?
[01:36:03] <chromas> "Our website was the tip of the penis!"
[01:36:36] <TheMightyBuzzard> quite. he ain't computer literate beyond being able to find the streaming pr0n sites.
[01:36:59] <chromas> He needs Uncle Buzz to take him under his wing
[01:37:59] * charon_ coughs
[01:39:07] <cmn32480> sounds like we have someone else who needs help finding more than the streaming pron sites
[01:40:24] <TheMightyBuzzard> chromas, who ya think showed him pornhub? i don't want the little bugger downloading porn torrents and getting us sued or getting a gerzillion viruses from some less reputable site.
[01:40:51] <chromas> Make him run Linx
[01:40:58] * chromas drops a "u"
[01:41:00] <charon_> linux is for porn
[01:41:23] <chromas> pornix
[01:42:00] <TheMightyBuzzard> chromas, his shat ain't powerful enough to run starcraft/warcraft/diablo 2 under wine or i would
[01:42:14] <charon_> i would not be surprised if such a thing exists. browser with all the best sites pre-bookmarked
[01:42:28] <chromas> how old is it? d2 is from decades ago
[01:42:38] <paulej72> it would run better if he didn't run all three at once
[01:42:48] * chromas notes that d2 runs perfectly under wine
[01:43:02] <chromas> Is he not the one you were doing minecraft mods with?
[01:43:20] <paulej72> I run eveything under wine, or do I just whine when I run eveything
[01:43:20] <cmn32480> buzzard - did StarCraft ever get the okie to release for free?
[01:43:24] <TheMightyBuzzard> chromas, ya.
[01:43:46] <TheMightyBuzzard> cmn32480, they're still testing and bug fixing the patch
[01:43:49] <chromas> I've never been able to get starcraft to run in wine :(
[01:44:03] <TheMightyBuzzard> dunno why not. works fine.
[01:44:14] * chromas tries again
[01:44:29] <TheMightyBuzzard> with the latest patch anyway
[01:44:32] <charon_> my life for Aiur
[01:44:47] * TheMightyBuzzard is in the pipe, 5 x 5
[01:46:09] <TheMightyBuzzard> chromas, no play on linux or anything. just wine.
[01:46:25] <TheMightyBuzzard> well maybe winetricks and some packages. i forget.
[01:46:42] <TheMightyBuzzard> know i had to for some game or other but i don't think it was sc

[01:52:41] <charon_> oh, and it have a green favicon now. yay paulej72!
[01:53:48] <TheMightyBuzzard> black icicle fo eva
[01:54:37] <paulej72> everyone should try saving to the desktop on android or ios
[01:56:21] * TheMightyBuzzard chuckles
[01:57:00] <TheMightyBuzzard> i use ~/Desktop for temporary pr0n storage. have icons turned off on my desktop cause i rarely see it.
[01:57:14] <paulej72> the site that is, high res android and ios iconage
[01:58:32] <Fnord666> nice
[01:59:09] * chromas loads the site in Brave (blink engine) on Android. Icons are tiny and the +++ is lower than the other two
[01:59:24] * chromas tries all the other browsers
[02:00:34] -!- charon_ has quit [Quit: ewww, smartphones]
[02:00:57] <paulej72> fucking browsers fhucking with em sizes
[02:01:56] <TheMightyBuzzard> never trust a browser to render an em properly.
[02:01:59] <chromas> Should I be trying prod or dev?
[02:02:15] <paulej72> both the same for this
[02:03:27] <TheMightyBuzzard> chromas, we don't officially support anything but internet exploder 6
[02:04:33] <chromas> oh neat. sc/bw works now
[02:04:37] <paulej72> the control icons are all svg and should be renderd at the appropreia size
[02:05:05] <chromas> Icons look normal in firefox beta on android; though the text is smaller
[02:05:30] * TheMightyBuzzard wanders off to the land of nicotania
[02:05:59] <paulej72> I think I set the size via px, but the buttons are in diffent locations in the div structure
[02:06:24] <paulej72> that is cuasing the locaion to be wrong because the redering engine is shit
[02:10:17] <chromas> What if you do percent?
[02:11:26] <paulej72> same issue as em, the problem is some of the phone browsers think they need to arbitraily increase the font size for certain elements
[02:12:14] <paulej72> so if one of my buttons is in a element that gets a size bump, then rendering issues can result
[02:13:08] <Bytram> from the css tricks site (I think it was) there is another measure... rem (I think) that was supposed to be better, but I don't know how well it is supported... saw it about a year or two ago.
[02:14:47] <Bytram> a quick glance at chrome on android (both being older versions)... still same issue with text size being small on first couple comments (number varies, seemingly randomly for each story) and the icons are sized appropriate to the tiny text. after that, text is normal sized, but tiny icons remain.
[02:15:03] <Bytram> iow, no change from what I've seen before. :(

[22:54:36] <Fnord666> howdy #editorial
[23:00:58] <charon_> hiyo Fnord666
[23:01:12] <Fnord666> hey charon_ how goes it?
[23:01:31] <charon_> not bad. i am considering doing some work
[23:01:42] <charon_> crazy, i know
[23:02:01] <Fnord666> let's not get carried away there...
[23:03:56] <charon_> oh nice. instead of ordering 12 bottles of oil, i almost ordered 12 cases of 12
[23:04:13] <charon_> glad i caught that one before my boss did
[23:04:49] <Fnord666> yeah that would be a lot of oil.
[23:06:04] <Fnord666> and there's only one more friday for a fish fry
[23:06:10] <charon_> i really want to buy a 55 gallon barrel, but he won't let me
[23:07:13] <Fnord666> i take it this is for in-house use?
[23:07:23] <charon_> also, i'm pretty sure this would not be a good oil to use for frying
[23:07:37] <charon_> yeah. oil changes for the machines
[23:10:56] <charon_> so how's by you, Fnord666?
[23:12:27] <Fnord666> Good. It's been a chilly weekend but not bad. Got the mowing deck cleaned up, the blades sharpened and got the whole thing mounted on the tractor. Got the oil changed in the tractor as well and got the first cutting of the yard completed.
[23:13:00] <charon_> grass is growing enough to be cut?
[23:13:14] <charon_> things are still dormant around here
[23:14:04] <Fnord666> been warm enough around here that everything is awake and growing.
[23:14:39] <Fnord666> looking at the weather coming up, if I didn't cut it I would have to bale it by the end of next week
[23:15:16] <charon_> hah
[23:15:49] <charon_> someone rented a rototiller today, said it was fine. the first spring rental, though a bit later than usual
[23:25:19] <Fnord666> Our last potential frost date is 4/11 so it's a bit early to be tilling for me.
[23:41:02] <charon_> you have a garden?
[23:45:39] <Fnord666> A small one these days. Bigger when the kids were younger.
[23:47:43] <Fnord666> plus some others I know have a huge garden and invite us over to help clean it out when things start maturing.
[23:48:22] <charon_> zucchini for all
[23:49:29] <Fnord666> then you just have to figure out what to do with 6 five gallon buckets of tomatoes
[23:50:10] <Fnord666> We end up canning a bunch of stuff
[23:50:26] <charon_> that is a lot of tomatoes. even for pasta sauce
[23:50:35] <Fnord666> yup
[23:50:59] <Fnord666> and that was the extras!
[23:51:44] <charon_> i guess most plants are like that. you harvest when it's ready or not at all
[23:52:11] <Fnord666> All hands on deck when it's ready
[23:52:52] <Fnord666> our backyard garden is a lot smaller than that though.
[23:53:26] <charon_> i tried a garden one year, but the critters got more of it than i did
[23:53:37] <Fnord666> they are good at that
[23:54:02] <charon_> exactly. it's life or death for them. for me it's do i have to go to the store to make dinner
[23:54:21] <Fnord666> rabbits and squirrels especially, although sometimes deer too
[23:54:39] <charon_> we had a bold as brass woodchuck living under the shed.
[23:57:01] <Fnord666> I know too many people that have horses to have any love for woodchucks
[23:59:01] <charon_> not even Punxsatawney Phil?
[23:59:47] <Fnord666> celebrity woodchucks excepted I suppose.
[23:59:50] <Fnord666> :)
