[00:43:21] <takyon> alright i'm around
[00:44:07] <takyon> what, do you want me to insert the statement in there myself, cmn32480?
[00:45:12] <takyon> hmmmm
[00:45:14] <takyon> i'll do it then
[00:48:35] <takyon> ok, I posted the retraction
[00:48:43] <takyon> I haven't updated the time on it
[00:53:24] <takyon> I'll monitor the retracted story and see what any new comments have to say about it.
[01:27:36] <cmn32480> somebody else can edit tonight... I've taken quite enough of a beating.
[01:38:23] -!- MrPlow [MrPlow!~TheMighty@nsa.gov] has joined #editorial
[01:38:33] <TheMightyBuzzard> #smake cmn32480
[01:38:33] * MrPlow smakes cmn32480 upside the head with a bag of LEDs
[01:39:03] <cmn32480> you rang?
[01:39:22] <TheMightyBuzzard> just adding to your beatings
[01:39:36] <cmn32480> thanks
[01:39:48] <cmn32480> next time don't jump the line...
[01:40:30] <TheMightyBuzzard> but... why else would anyone join staff except to be able to abuse the power for personal amusement?
[01:44:44] <cmn32480> I suppose
[01:47:27] <cmn32480> just don't have it in me to give a flying fuck at the moment
[02:05:19] Bytram|away is now known as Bytram
[02:05:36] <Bytram> greetings eds!
[02:07:49] <Bytram> cmn32480: They gave you quite a bearing there; and I personally think it was misplaced. We try and provide a forum for balanced discussion. Sometimes, the balance appears as opposing viewpoints in one story. Other times separate stories provide the perspective. About all I could suggest, in retrospect, is a disclaimer to the effect that this story seems to be off; how would you counter it? or somesuch.
[02:07:58] <Bytram> cmn32480++
[02:07:58] <Bender> karma - cmn32480: 44
[02:09:59] <Bytram> and... I just noticed!
[02:10:08] <Bytram> cmn32480: Welcome to the 1400-story club!
[02:10:11] <Bytram> !woop
[02:10:11] <Bender> woop woop woop (\/) (;,,;) (\/)
[02:10:56] * Bytram notices that n1/nick has reached 1200; yay!
[02:12:25] <takyon> the story was fatally flawed bytram, and also from March 2015 rather than 2016. It was also misrepresented as CNBC reporting when it was a press release
[02:12:28] <takyon> the odds were not good
[02:12:48] <Bytram> ooh, Imissed hte off-by-one-year; ouch.
[02:13:11] <Bytram> ugh.
[02:13:16] <Bytram> looks like we were trolled?
[02:13:46] <takyon> idk
[02:13:51] <takyon> going to post voice assistant story
[02:14:11] <Bytram> sounds interesting
[02:14:48] <cmn32480> yeah.. there is a certain amount of "fuck this" in my thinking at the moment
[02:15:41] <Bytram> I feel for ya man... don't let the assholes get you down.
[02:16:28] <Bytram> you're focussing on this *one* story, instead of the ONE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED PLUS other stories you posted.
[02:16:51] <takyon> edit and post my AlphaGo story bytram
[02:16:56] <cmn32480> as noted in the comments "I've given cmn32480 an editor demerit before...."
[02:17:45] <Bytram> yeah, it sucks. You issued a retraction. without a bunch of equivocation. what's done is done. Move on and forget about it... and you can remind me of this the next time I post a story that bombs!
[02:17:51] <Bytram> k
[02:18:21] <takyon> I wrote the alphago submission just a few minutes after the game ended, so it's pretty raw

[03:43:51] <Bytram> 1.) starting ot look like word soup
[03:43:57] <Bytram> 2.) need links to our prior stories
[03:44:20] <Bytram> 3.) could use a brief intro on what the game ofg Go is and why this competition is important
[03:45:01] <Bytram> you had a great foundation and I pulled in a bunch of things to flesh it out as you asked
[03:45:18] <Bytram> feel free to hack/slice/chop/mince/frappe/etc. it.
[03:47:44] <Bytram> oh, and the story needs a 'dept', too.

[03:51:20] <Bytram> nod nod
[03:52:11] <takyon> or 2
[03:52:47] <Bytram> I *thought* it was 3, but I could be mistaken
[03:53:59] <takyon> i added an older one
[03:54:03] <takyon> saved
[03:54:43] <takyon> it was a january article about defeating the other champion, a game 1 article, and a game 3/4 article
[03:55:25] <takyon> made some little changes throughout. I think there's enough information about what "Go" is... particularly the link to the Wikipedia article, which I made easier to click
[03:55:34] <Bytram> nice
[03:55:38] <Bytram> just pushed out a couple stories
[03:55:51] <Bytram> will give the Go story a look-see and then need to get to bed
