[13:34:01] <janrinok> not bad. Got some work done in the garden this morning while waiting for the electrician to arrive. Partial power failure during the night. Turns out that the dish-washer had caused a minor fire inside the electric fuse panel
[13:35:08] <CoolHand> yikes! scary! (as a former electrician, I would say the dishwasher didn't cause that, a bad connection, bad wiring, or improperly sized fuse would have caused that)
[13:36:06] <CoolHand> the dishwasher might have shorted or overloaded, but proper wiring and fuse panel should be designed to protect that without catchign fire
[13:36:09] <janrinok> well, I'll not argue. But the pump in the dishwasher seized, but the fuse didn't blow immediately but rather the whole panel in that fuse area got very hot
[13:36:46] <janrinok> ended up burning that fuse and the one adjacent to it, which cut out heating, major appliances etc.
[13:37:07] <janrinok> You have to remember that French electrics is a law unto itself, and not at all like I am used to in the UK
[13:37:23] <CoolHand> well, there should probably be overload protection in the dishwashwer also to stop that, so we can partially blame the dishwasher, but the fuse in the fuse box should also have blown before a fire started anywhere..
