[12:19:39] <CoolHand> I see that now
[12:19:55] <CoolHand> didn't get to read much yesterday

[13:16:07] <LaminatorX_> In belated answer to your question, Janrinok: Pretty good. I just got back from an old-time music festival in Tennessee, my kids are spending a week at their grandparents place, and I just got a new CD from one of my favorite bands who have reunited and it doesn't suck.
[13:24:51] <janrinok> good to hear! Have you been playing recently?
[13:25:49] <LaminatorX_> I played at the festival a bit, and have a couple of shows coming up this month here in town.
[13:26:18] <janrinok> how's the family?
[13:26:52] <LaminatorX_> The festival thing was kind of crazy. I played a little bit in a contest and randomly jammed with some folks, then I loaned a capo to a random guy and it turned out he was in one of the top acts and I (along with a few others and a dozen buck-dancers) got to join them onstage for their last number.
[13:27:27] <LaminatorX_> Family is good. Wendy and I are going on grown-up dates while the kids are at their grandparents place.
[13:27:57] <janrinok> fame! please remember me when you are rich and famous - just a 'Hi Jan' would be great :) And enjoy your time together!
[13:28:46] <janrinok> I'm just working on my storybot program - seeing if I can generate enough stories to put one an hour out like we used to do manually!
[13:29:08] <janrinok> Arthur T Knackerbracket is a lump of software
[13:30:36] <LaminatorX_> I was curious about that.
[13:31:42] <janrinok> the output still needs quite a bit of editing but we seem to run to empty queue more frequently nowadays - not looking good in that respect.
[13:37:37] <LaminatorX_> I wonder if it could put them in the "Hold" box, so that the nagger still shows low.
[13:38:07] <janrinok> we plan to have a hidden nexus, so that we can see them but others cannot - for exactly the reason that you state
[13:39:16] <janrinok> Currently, I submit each story manually from the output, but I have a automatic submission program (using TMB's API) that will do the job, but it can create several hundred stories a day!
[13:46:04] <nick> g'day janrinok, LaminatorX_
[13:46:14] <janrinok> nick: hi how's things?
[13:49:19] <LaminatorX_> Howdy.

[13:55:27] <janrinok> nick is not very talkative today
[13:56:22] <nick> sorry, in the middle of making lunch
[13:56:30] <janrinok> what are we having :)
[13:56:52] <nick> not sure, tesco has a halal snack counter for now, so i grabbed a mix n match few things from there
[13:56:57] <nick> cant remember the names of any of them lol
[13:57:44] <LaminatorX> I used to get lamb and goat from a halal butcher when I lived downtown. That place was great.
[13:58:34] <LaminatorX> I imagine it still is.
[14:01:20] <nick> there's a few of those around here, i should probably check them out
[14:01:38] <nick> although im quite happy buying my fresh meat from the korean butchers at the moment

[16:03:28] <nick> dd-wrt installed on router, let us hope it does what it is supposed to
[16:43:16] <takyon> we need an iranian nuke deal story
[16:44:12] <takyon> i want lamb dumplings now
[16:47:40] <CoolHand> are we putting "original submission" link on ARthur T knickerbracket stories or not?
[16:48:24] <CoolHand> I saw it on jan's submission yesterday, but not today. I put it on the one I published for this afternoon, but could still remove it..
[17:00:31] <nick> i think it's best policy to put original submission link
[17:01:06] <nick> it's there for anyone to see that way, no hiding that it's a bot
[17:14:53] janrinok_afk is now known as janrinok
[17:14:55] <janrinok> hi guys
[17:15:28] <CoolHand> ok, if janrinok agrees with that, I'll insert it when I 2nd his ATK story
[17:15:37] <CoolHand> hi janrinok
[17:15:45] <janrinok> just for info - I'm storing most 'bot stories in the 'Hold' queue just so they are not counted for the nagger display
[17:15:57] <janrinok> CoolHand: nick: !!
[17:16:07] <janrinok> takyon: !!
[17:16:09] <CoolHand> janrinok !!
[17:16:41] <CoolHand> sorry I didn't greet u with excitement... work is kickin me in da nuts this week
[17:16:46] <janrinok> we can actually get back to a new story every hour with the help of the bot
[17:16:57] <janrinok> CoolHand: np, I understand
[17:17:32] <CoolHand> janrinok: do u agree we're inserting "original sub" link in bot stories?
[17:17:55] <janrinok> I've got no problem with that - it's where the stories come from
[17:18:11] <CoolHand> ok.. just wanted to make sure.
[17:19:35] <janrinok> there are a couple of gotchas to look out for - we must give priority to those stories that are submitted by other users providing that they _are suitable_, and that I don't want it to appear that we don't need any assistance anymore.
[17:20:03] <CoolHand> yep.
[17:20:16] <CoolHand> what is the "hold queue"?
[17:20:18] <janrinok> we've still got to be prepared to bin stories that don't make the grade or are covering topics which are not what the site is supposed to be focussing on.
[17:21:10] <janrinok> In the submission list, you can mark a story as 'hold' and them press the update button, and it get moved to a hidden list. Use the filter at the top of the sub page to see what is in the held list.
[17:22:22] <CoolHand> ok, cool
[17:23:02] <janrinok> I'm trying to find a way of posting direct to the held list so that I can fully automate the submissions
[17:23:09] <janrinok> not sure it is possible though
[17:24:10] <janrinok> I'm just about to submit another story, and then I will move it to the hold queue
[17:24:12] <CoolHand> one could probably screen scrape and post to do it.. but that might be kludgey..
[17:24:34] <janrinok> that what happens now, except I have to select a story to post
[17:25:16] <janrinok> or perhaps I misunderstood what you are suggesting...?
[17:26:23] <janrinok> its now in the queue so I will select 'hold' in the drop-down next to the comments field, and press update
[17:26:38] <janrinok> ... and it has now gone to the hold queue
[17:29:11] <CoolHand> use python to "scrape the screen", select art t k stories, and post them to hold
[17:29:18] <CoolHand> sorry, work is distracting me
[17:30:38] <janrinok> I'm using TMB's API, but I'll need to have a chat with him to discuss the art of the possible
[17:40:11] <janrinok> nick: how was your halal lunch?
[18:21:48] <janrinok> anybody available to 2nd ed takyon's Breaking News story?
[18:30:10] <janrinok> thx CoolHand
