[12:59:48] <LaminatorX> Got up to Ferguson yesterday night. Spent some time playing with neighborhood kids and sharing eachother's folk music. Headed back home before the protests heated up, as I couldn't take the kids to school if I'm jailed up in North county.
[13:02:03] <LaminatorX> It was kind of profound. A little boy asked me what color I was, confused by my pale legs, pink face, and tanned driver's-side arm.

[13:16:36] <LaminatorX> I'm good. I spent the weekend in Tennessee with my in-laws, then got back up here in time to go pay my respects and do some peace-love&understanding work up in Ferguson.
[13:17:27] <LaminatorX> I didn't stick around for the nighttime confrontations though. Responsible dads don't get maced and tossed in the county lockup.
[13:18:22] <janrinok> it was good of you to go and pay your respects tho'. And a good decision to avoid the night - it is still making the occasional news item here.
[13:23:20] <LaminatorX> I was a bit uncertain heading up, I didn't want to be a tourist in other people's neighborhood and experience, but we were welcomed.
[13:24:23] <janrinok> That's is good to hear. Any signs of the whole situation improving or is the divide still as big as ever?
[13:28:31] <LaminatorX> Improving in so far as it's become clear that the status quo is intolerable, and that people are talking to eachother rather than being caught up in our own parochial concerns.
[13:30:05] <LaminatorX> A State Patrol Trooper shot someone trying to surrender in South Carolina last week, and was summarily fired and arrested. I hate to look at another black guy getting shot as progress, but I have to thing the accountability there wouldn't have happened if not for the troubles here.
[13:30:48] <janrinok> Well that is progress in some ways then. I hope it gets resolved so that we can all get along, and sooner rather than later too.
[13:35:23] <janrinok> Well, I've made a small contribution to the story list and the nurse is due soon so, to avoid being told off (again!), I'd better get back in bed and make a pretence of resting as instructed.
