[03:36:21] <Bytram|away> heads up...
[03:36:34] <Bytram|away> I noticed a story in the queue which looked VERY familiar:
[03:36:38] <Bytram|away> http://soylentnews.org
[03:36:39] <monopoly> ^ 04SN article 03 Close 04(/stats.soylentnews.org/piwik/"; comments):
[03:37:25] <Bytram|away> Amazon is Paying its Employees to Quit
[03:37:38] <Bytram|away> which after a bit of a search, seems to be a dupe of:
[03:38:13] <Bytram|away> http://soylentnews.org
[03:38:13] <monopoly> ^ 04SN article 03 Amazon Will Pay Employees Up To $5,000 For Quitting 04(28 comments):
[03:38:21] <Bytram|away> Amazon Will Pay Employees Up To $5,000 For Quitting
[03:45:03] <Bytram|away> I just updated the current story with a link to the prior one.
[03:45:49] <Bytram|away> there's a lot of overlap between the two, but this newer one does give a little more info.
[03:47:00] <Bytram|away> I'd rather not unilaterally remove the story from the queue, or even make it non-display.
[03:47:26] <Bytram|away> if anyone sees this in the next 5 hours or so, please take a look and confirm/decide/
[03:47:38] <Bytram|away> thanks and g'night!

[11:48:28] <Bytram> hi all!
[11:48:50] <Bytram> I noticed there's a story with a bit of a click-bait-y headline...
[11:49:03] <Bytram> "As Few as 4% Keep ISPs Network Filters"
[11:49:18] <Bytram> see: http://soylentnews.org
[11:49:19] <monopoly> ^ 04SN article 03 Close 04(/stats.soylentnews.org/piwik/"; comments):
[11:50:16] <Bytram> as those are the numbers for the *least* taken-up percentage, I'd suggest a better headline might be:
[11:50:32] <Bytram> "Few Keep UK IPS's Network Filters"
[11:50:41] <Bytram> any objections/comments?
[12:13:02] <Bytram> on second thought, and since there's been no objection, I'm going with: "Most Folks Decline UK ISP's Network Filters"
[12:53:25] <Azrael> Bytram: I wasn't happy with title but couldn't think of a better one
[12:53:50] <Bytram> Azrael: thanks for the reply! what do you think of the replacement?
[12:54:58] <Azrael> it is much better :D
[12:55:34] <Bytram> thanks! I very much dislike making a unilateral decision, but in this case the existing title was really gnawing at me.
[12:55:52] <Bytram> I figured if my change was unacceptable, I'd hear about it soon enough!

[17:28:32] <LaminatorX|afk> We've got human eyes on all these spots, as there are verbal compliance issues too look at as well. I do use Python to match up the video files in our library with the titles in our scheduling database and rename them with the ID number the broadcast insertion system needs though. :)

[17:59:14] <janrinok> hi guys
[18:29:39] <LaminatorX> Hello.
[18:36:00] <janrinok> hi LaminatorX how's things?
[18:50:19] <LaminatorX> Pretty good, yourself?
[18:51:31] <janrinok> not bad - just rebuilding a computer which is why my replies are a bit late...
[18:59:12] <janrinok> LaminatorX: had to collect a couple of stories today - the queue started looking a bit low for a Wednesday
[19:00:29] <LaminatorX> Always a good thing.
[19:02:03] <janrinok> On the whole quality is OK, but submission numbers seem down - or is that just my perception?
[19:12:58] <LaminatorX> Subs for july: \n07-01: 23 \n07-02: 17 \n07-03: 22 \n07-04: 21 \n07-05: 23 \n07-06: 7 \n07-07: 23 \n07-08: 22 \n07-09: 13 \n07-10: 13 \n07-11: 17 \n07-12: 12 \n07-13: 11 \n07-14: 18 \n07-15: 19 \n07-16: 18 \n07-17: 27 \n07-18: 11 \n07-19: 7 \n07-20: 10 \n07-21: 22 \n07-22: 24
[19:13:25] <LaminatorX> Hm, I was hopinf \n would work.
[19:13:56] <janrinok> I was wondering what it was meant to be - \n makes sense now!
[19:15:03] <LaminatorX> Looks like RFC 1459 says no multiline IRC messages.
[19:15:15] <chromas> \n is end of message
[19:15:17] <xlefay> If you were to copy & paste with newlines from an editor or so.. most IRC clients will paste it correctly.
[19:15:25] <janrinok> that seems reasonably stable - weekend slump is obvious - but other than that is normal
[19:15:44] <janrinok> hi chromas - yes I know but I couldn't work out what the data was at first!
[19:16:48] <chromas> You may be able to use shift-enter (or control-)
