[22:50:48] <qkontinuum> I'm playing with the dev VM. I didn't change much yet, but with most actions I'm somehow forwarded to the real website. Anything I can do about it? A variable I should set or something?

[23:06:31] <paulej72> the dev vm has been broken for a long time. we have been waiting for NCommander to build us a new one
[23:08:24] <qkontinuum> Thanks for the info. So far I got it up and running now (added two lines to the wiki)
[23:08:49] <qkontinuum> Is there a better alternative availabe? A docker image or something similar?
[23:09:43] <qkontinuum> Problem is that lots of the FORM actions are linking to soylentnews.org instead of localhost...
[23:11:25] <qkontinuum> From http://localhost:1337 <form action="//soylentnews.org/users.pl" method="post">

[23:22:23] <paulej72> sorry, it did work correctly at one point, but we changed the database and apache backends and it requirs a complete rebild to make it work.
[23:22:53] <paulej72> we have had so little need for it we have not rally tried to fix it/
[23:24:53] <qkontinuum> If I get it running for me I'll try to provide an updated image for others as well... Would be good if there are any pointers where to start looking though.
[23:26:54] <paulej72> the real issue is we need to update perl, apache, mysql and update the db so that rehash can run. It is a very involved task and would probably be quicker to start with a clean OS.
[23:27:50] <paulej72> NCommander is the only one here that has done full bare metal installs of slash or rehash. I probably could figure it out, but I have not tried it.
[23:28:22] <paulej72> Not sure if intall docs are up to date enough to even try.
[23:49:44] <TheMightyBuzzard> paulej72, the db scripts are wrong. some plugin stuff is in with base stuff where what it's trying to insert doesn't have the proper number of columns. i was going to fix that a long time back but i got distracted.
